UFC 199 pbp/discussion

Biggest loss ever. If last Sundays event didn't happen id be crushed. This and 198 hurt me bad. Went from $5300 to $4200. Only positive is the sentimentality of Hendo and Bisping wins. First time i'm ever looking forward to a 2 week break.

Chin up bro, I lost a lot more than you.

i just think rockhold is slower, has self esteem issues and has a boxing deficiency

no idea what universe you are currently in son, but here in the milky way rockhold is by no means slower than bisping. as for having ''self esteem'' issues? i hope you mean he has way to much of it? because that's what cost him tonight, the fact that he didn't respect bisping one bit, and took it for granted.

as for having a boxing deficiency? rockhold is an exellent kickboxer, he just prefers to use kicks to set up his straight strikes which is why he doesn't really throw combinations.

Honestly this event taught me to say fuck short notice and play who I think is on the better side of the lines. I didn't profit the way I should've off Nate cause of it, and when Luke vs Bisping was announced I said I was eyeing Bisping til this whole bullshit about him filming a movie.

I think both piglord and plekz make proper points. Rockhold is an excellent kickboxer, but he is an extremely predictable one. Left round kicks, left straight and from the other side a check hook and question mark kick account for a largeee majority of his offense. It was incredibly smart of Bisping to circle into Rockhold's right side outside of range and wait for the counters, hes unquestionably a better boxer with a style to exploit Luke's deficiencies. And he did, in a much more devastating way than anyone could've imagined because Luke decided to not respect him and over commit to his hands in a way he never has before.

I'm gonna straight up eat crow and call myself out for being dead wrong about Bisping's power. I said he just doesn't have much but truth is it IS his style that generally leads to him landing but not hurting many guys. Because he doesn't sit down on his punches very often and wants to conserve energy and drag fights into deep waters. But he showed last night that when he commits to throwing with power and lands clean he can hurt guys.

i'm in the universe of large profits son.

you explain to me how it's indicitative of having ''self esteem issues'' and stepping in with no guard and sitting down on punches? logic would dicate (this might be a foreign concept to you) that someone with ''self esteem issues'' would be alot more likely to be tentative, hesitant to sit down while throwing strikes and actually try to protect themselves.

not my fault you say dumb shit that makes no sense, that's on you. i just supply the rope and chair, you're the one tying the noose.

Hit a nice euro prop Bisping to have the belt during 2016 @ +8000

To bad I only put 0.1 unit on it

replying only once because i am here to trade information and win money rather than argue on the internet.

i believe rockhold to be arrogant which is the opposite of confident. arrogance always comes from a position of insecurity. disrespecting your opponent the way he did is not something a self-assured fighter would do. the elite fighters ALWAYS respect their opponents no matter who they are facing because at the highest level, anyone can beat anyone on their day.

i don't dislike rockhold as a person, in fact i backed him continuously during his title run. i'm just trying to assess every angle in order to make a profit.

i am perfectly happy to say dumb shit that makes no sense, so long as my bank account is healthy.

Rd 1 was close

Outside of that huge slam that pretty much was instantly reversed Faber didn't do much offensively.
Cruz also took him down and got the better of the grappling exchanges.
Cruz also landed more "powerful" strikes.

Unrelated Edit:
I didn't bet on either Cruz, hector, or rock hold but if there lines were 2-1 or better if be a poor man.

Before anyone trashes rockhold on shitty jabs please note, rockhold says the jab was his downfall this fight. He rarely uses a pawing jab. I believe he ignores the jab because he's a southpaw.

The jab for a southpaw against an orthodox fighter and vice versa can work but it's 10x harder IMO. You don't want to use it when you're on your opponents center line. It leaves you so vulnerable to lead hooks or even crosses if they angle out.

If goodfella is still lurking I'm sure he can chime in as well.

My boxing background is not extensive but I've trained under a few boxers for some amateur Mma fights so I know a wee bit about Cardinal sins.

you mean like anderson silva did demian maia and thales leites? or weidman? or jose aldo did conor mcgregor? or werdum did stipe? or bisping did hendo? or would these fighters by your ''assessment'' not qualify as ''elite fighters'' at ''the highest level'' ?

man, look at all that ''respect'' he's having for his opponent.

i am perfectly happy to say dumb shit that makes no sense

now that we can agree on.

i can't see how this discussion is going to make me richer. please poke holes in my assessments before the fights take place in the future as i always appreciate when people help me to save money.

Congrats piglord, I think the entire board thought your bisping play was never going to hit in a million years lol, if it works and brings home the bacon, that is all that matters.

must have felt like this when it happen

Amazing photo. Wonder who took it.

at the end of the day, whether his logic is sound or flawed, @piglord won a decent amount of cash on Bisping at insane odds. i dont think his bank account cares whether it was a lucky throw of a dart or great capping
