UFN 94 - Johnson vs Poirier - Texas

I'm wondering if the Stadium will be hot. I've heard a couple interviews saying how hot and humid the open workouts were.

The venue is 10 minutes from the Mexican border.
Good call. Going to make grappling harder and could lead to more decisions with punches slipping off the sweat.

Excuse my ignorance but is this event at altitude? I assume not as no one has mentioned it in here.

About the heat -

Nah. Modern arena. That was just an old-school boxing gym where the workouts were. Fight night will be fine!

Hall's weird but honestly nothing ever stuck out to me that would say hes a bad guy.

I'm kind of getting red flags on Poirier. Confidence is good, but its getting to the point where it sounds like hes overlooking MJ while MJ seems very focused. I mean, saying CD Ferreira would beat MJ? Cmon man lol
Would you have intense hatred for someone if they corrected you in a calm manner and said a professional cook is called a chef?

I don't remember exactly what happened, but it's a tv show. Editing is a helluva skill

Took flyers on MJ round 1 +600 and round 2 +1000. Also, Belal round 3 +1025 and Brown SUB +405

i ml bet mj with the thinking that his speed and kicks are going to win the first two rounds and then maybe hedge poirier in the third round if dustin is offered at plus money

Why are so many people forgetting the Dustin-MJ fight is 5 rounds lol

imo, live betting is more of an emotional, spur of the moment bet where people dont actually have a plan of action set forth before the fight ad the lines generally reflect that

also, i think there is every but the possibility that poirier gasses as much as mj does. johnson threw over 300 punches in the diaz fight at relatively the same amount and connect percentage in the previous two rounds as the last round. he is also coming off shoulder surgery which may have affected his performance in that fight. if he paces himself at 60 per round he could still outwork dustin.

people are quick to forget that mjs win over barboza is better than anything dustin has done at 155 or 145 for that matter

He felt out of place on the show, and he clearly has emotional blisters about people putting him down in the past, so it's not outrageous to think that comment could have been taken as trying to make him look like a fool.

From my own personal experience, when I was in college I had some class mates take little digs at my ethnicity now and then, I don't think they meant any genuine harm, but if you've taken 1000 little digs (and some bigger ones) in your past, every little extra one will want to make you lash out at people, so I can kinda see where Hall is coming from. Not to mention people can be kind of insidious when it comes to bullying, they do just enough and keep being consistent with it to get under someone's skin even though it looks fairly innocent for an outsider. Whether that was the case with the chef comment is up for grabs.

He seems to have the same mindset as Ronda though, they both think the whole world is out to get them, without realizing some of their own behavior is making that a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Just watched the early weigh ins. A couple notes I took from it.

-Randy Brown is a LOOOONNGGG 170lber. God damn he has a a solid frame for 170.
-Maximo Blanco looked fantastic. Best shape I have ever seen him in. If he fights smart (which is iffy) and can fight off a few TDs, I think he can win this fight convincingly.
-Chris Wade looked really great too.
-Sam Sicilia has some damn T rex arms. I am not sure why he is the favorite TBH.
-Roan Carniero looked pretty sucked in (as to be expected with the drop to 170). If that fight is clinch heavy and he ends up on his back, his cardio will be something to watch in the later rounds.
-Hall looked great, as usual. As many have stated, it baffles me how a guy this gifted can be so mediocre on fight night.

I agree about Blanco looking great and have 1.5U on him in this fight, but was it just me or did Skelly actually look like he had some muscle tone and energy at weigh-ins? In past fights iirc he always looked skinny fat and lethargic.

Also with JB, Bork and others on Benetiz. Think he can stay upright and pick him apart at range. Just has to avoid the big shot and he will win a decision.

Ok nice to see this Benitez train having a couple of other members :)

Yup. He has a 5 inch reach advantage which is pretty significant at 145. That being said, Sam has solid power so it's not a lock by any means. I just don't see why he is the favorite when Benitez has more physical tools to win this.

Sherdog powers that be should really consider adding that face to the smiley collection
