Pretty surprised assuncao got bet so much. Expecting that line to even out

Weird line, weird fight. I thought RA looked like he had a lot of ring rust vs TJ.

It seems like sterling should be able to muscle him around in round 1 right?

Like EZ, I am very surprised by the masvidal love. We got a guy who has spent the past few years losing split Dec to middling opponents vs a guy who has only lost to the best for the past 6 years.

Can a masvidal supporter please break it down for me beyond "he will pressure him". For example, who wins the grappling, how does mas handle the kicks etc. Does anyone recall Masvidal ever effectively working someone to the body?

I am not saying I plan to dump a ton of cash on Mas but I do lean towards him winning.

Basically Cowboy struggles when his opponent brings continuous forward pressure. Cowboy does best when his opponent just stands in front of him at kicking range...

Mas has evolved from being that passive guy that dropped close decisions. I think he understands now that he needs to be really aggressive to get the nod or better yet get the finish.

From a psychological point of view I think Cowboy is headed toward being a gatekeeper kinda guy that takes tons of fights but never gets the belt OTOH I think Mas is actually seeking to ascend.

All that said its a close fight and I won't be surprised by Cerrone getting the nod.

Really? I thought he looked pretty good considering he had a two year lay off and was facing the best. I had a big bet on tj and while he defo won it was a lot more competitive than lineker was. Sterling is not that good imo his standup is trash just spams kicks.

Lets say Cerrone can't handle the pressure and is getting walked down. I think at this point he might actually be able to hit reactive takedowns (this def needs to verified by tape footage). You think mas' tdd is just too good?

Mas throws a powerful body kick pretty sure he hit larkin and berger with it. We all know cowboy loves a liver kick. Mas is a mare to takedown and hold down too. He knows hes been too passive and came out very aggressive against berger. I wouldnt call benson or larkin middling opponents either.

Yes or if taken down he gets right back up

Yeah hard to say, I had money on the doggie of course, so maybe I am being harsh on him. But compared to TJ RA 1 he looked way slower and more plodding imho.

RA also opened a gym with his bro before the second TJ fight, I have a rule of thumb to slightly fade guys who are struggling with the stress of keeping a business afloat.

Yeah sterling's striking is trash for sure, but he is one of the best athletes in the div, and I think there is a very good chance he can out physical RA in round one, leading to better prices on RA in round 2, the possibility of freerolls, hedges etc. At the moment I'm just thinking about how to play it w how the live betting line might move.

Well, not Larkin at least. And I'll say his recent wins were softballs gimmes from zuffa. Pearson, ellenberger, and Mutante, tailor made for Mas

Thanks, good food for thought for tape watching.

Pantoja vs Shelton is going to be hot fire.

I am leaning Mas. I would prefer a price +140 of to +165, but I will definitely be on him. As a fan I'd prefer to see Cowboy win, but capping this I favor Mas. I'll elaborate more at another time.

Also Marquardt vs Alvey should be a pickem imo. I have to back Marquardtat these odds vs Alvey.

I can't really go down a road of hypotheticals here.... not really my style. Suffice to say I think Mas can stop Cowboy for a TKO.

I remember i convinced people to bet on marquard last tume when he fought tamdan. im gonna do the same this time. again... marwuard only loses to elite... or very athletic strikers. alvey wont be the guy

Masvidal is extremely well rounded. The biggest factor for me here is the boxing of Masvidal. I would not be shocked to see Masvidal land on him a bunch. Masvidal is also faster and he can hold his own anywhere here. His issue has been output in the past, but he's definitely improved there. If he gets his jab going early, I see Cerrone having a hard time finding his groove. Similar to the second fight Cerrone had with Benson.

This is the first time I've bet against Cowboy in a long time as well.

Mas/Corrone is a lb fight for me, too many variables to lay anything big anyway.
I wouldn't be suprised to see mas on his back a bunch but as we've just seen unless cerrone can land anything while there the judges will not take it into account.

Yeah I don't know if I can bet against Cowboy, but Mas stylistically can certainly give Cowboy problems. I think Mas has more speed and crisper boxing than Brown, and Matt was landing on Cowboy. Cowboy **could** hit TD's but Mas has solid TDD. Both guys extremely durable but the o2.5 is too juiced.

Just not sure on this one...

I already bet Cowboy but am interested in your thoughts on picking Mas

like oblivion said, i really like masvidal's boxing and think cowboy is susceptible to that style of striking. i didn't like the way cowboy was moving backwards without moving his head against matt brown, masvidal has excellent hands and can take advantage. i see it being primarily a standup fight with masvidal's hand speed and accuracy being the main factor.

don't get me wrong, cerrone could definitely win but i give a slight edge to masvidal and if he's +150 or so, it's an obvious play imo.
