Iggy got curb-stomped in that election though. Fucker even lost his own riding. Regarding your other point about how Canadian "liberals" don't see actual Canadians as more Canadians than immigrants, you're right, but don't look for anything resembling consistency from these people. If O'Leary gets the nomination he will be crucified by our pathetic media as a racist, fascist, "literally Trump". The living outside of Canada thing will be used against him but it will be far down the list - just him being a businessman and tv personality will be enough to associate him with Trump and therefore fascism.
pretty much. I think he has some hope though. It'll be difficult for them to call him a racist as he's been pretty consistent and open about his immigrant parents from Lebanon, and how he's pro immigration. He's light years more rational about it though than treasonous Trudeau and his "no possible threat from immigration or else your racist" stance. One of the biggest tactics they'll use is as you said, the TV thing and therefore he's just like racist Trump derp derp. They'll likely play the exact game they did against Trump, deny he's a serious candidate the whole time. The problem is, O'leary isn't like Trump, at all. He make's quick, rational, cogent points. He's offering to do what the country needs with reforming the conservative party and he's got a solid record of making accurate economic predictions. He's also very charismatic when he criticizes the child feminist.
Honestly, this comes down to gender politics again. Trudeau and the CBC will push this narrative hard putting the ball in Trudeaus court. After all, he'd sell everyones children into slavery if it meant getting a female vote. Women are very interesting when it comes to voting for men. Since they got the vote the faces of US presidents have changed significantly. Almost no beards or mustaches after. O'leary is a bald man, women are very prejudice secretly and as funny as this sounds, I do believe being bald hurts O'leary badly with the women vote.
