UFC 214 - Jones vs Cormier II - Anaheim

How do people feel about the under 4.5 on Jones/Cormier?

I like it at +odds tbh.

My reasoning is on a trend and an emotional build up.
-I believe Jon Jones is gonna win. Challengers rarely beat champs by decision especially when the champ is around 40 years old. Randy, Anderson, Chuck Liddell, etc. The champs that did lose their belt by decision were in their late 20's/ early 30's IIRC.
-This is obviously an emotional fight for both and I think DC is really gonna push for a KO, he tagged jones a lot in rounds 1 and 2. If Jones was a PED abuser and now he's off, he'd likely get finished(Though I think it's over blown).

Cons:
Jones and Cormier have shown good chins.
Jones and Cormier rarely finish by a standing KO.
Cormier hasn't really been in sub trouble and he's tangled with Mir and Barnett.
Jones was armbarred by Vitor but I don't see cormier on his back in guard for long and don't see him throwing up subs.

Edit:
If I had to predict a finish it'd be Jones via TKO due to exhaustion/ accumulation of strikes.

would cailin curran have been cut by now if she looked like ediane gomes?

"Duh", but I'm happy she's not. This next fight actually seems like a really fun fight with lots of angles, unknowns and weird factors.

1. Curran seems to be a half decent fighter that finds ways to lose.
2. Albu possibly had more then one fight before getting signed by the UFC, but they sure as fuck did not exist in any record I could find or was there on the internet for the tape to be studied.
3. Albu looks like the kind of chick that thought prime Uberreem looked a bit soft and wouldn't fuck him unless he put on some better size and stopped being a out of shape fat fuck.
4. Curran seems fairly fit and in shape in her own right but doesn't use it very well in the cage.
5. Albu didn't manage to get much going at all against a fairly non athletic bigger chick who held her against the cage until she got a choke in r2.

So basically we have a super aggressive russian chick with a background as a body builder who decided to take a multi-year break to finish her studies rather then fighting under USADA who's now back and looks to have a body fat % that's actually negative against a super hot Hawaiian with lots of fight experience and background the UFC tries to push but manages to find ways to lose far to often.

I get that you can have objection based on "don't want to see low lever fighting in the UFC", but this fight is all kinds of fun for betting. I'm sure a couple of hours of careful research will give the answer to questions like:

  1. How the fuck do you look like Albu in general? Does normal non-juice body building chicks look like that? There's no way right? Those abs man, those abs!
  2. Is Curran gonna get decent step by step instructions from her corner? Like "Jabb, Jabb, Don't fucking go for a takedown, move left, keep moving, jab!!! JABBB!"
  3. Did Albu actually get her degree? If so, as a strong independent Caucasian women, is that good of bad for her as a fighter? If she didn't,is she then more motivated to make fighting work or is her income as a instagram model enough?
  4. Maybe Curran actually is pretty good? She athletic and except for the mental slip up (thank you +1100 sub prop) due to weird to say the least corner advice she has only lost to PvZ, Herring and Moyle, all of the respectable fighters that could be top15 or so on a good day. Maybe not Moyle, but who knows. It's at least better then that Polish chick Albu fought, she makes Devin Powell look like Jon Jones in every possible way except skin color.

On the other hand, Tyron loves to back up to the fence where Maia does his best work. I just keep seeing Maia at some point getting his back, cause he always does.

WoodLey always backing up
To the fence has me scared to bet him.

On the contrary 5th round WoodLey Thompson 2 came out and pressured and chased wonder boy around the ring.

I do feel if this hits the mat Maia finishes.

Tyrone gasses fast grappling

However This could look like his fight against another wizard Andre galvao

WoodLey only needs to land one

I think Maia might take the back without even taking Wood down

Is anyone even contemplating that the Jones that fought OSP was the first time jones was 100% clean?

The Jones that fought OSP can be beat by DC

true, but MAN DC hasn't looked good to me in the four fights since the first jones fight. AJ quit twice on him... i guess he was solid in the gus fight, but it was far from a clean win.. looked like crap vs silva...

my gut feeling is that's exactly what he needs to do.. and you know i have GREAT respect for maia's mma offensive (chain)wrestling

love jones and even at -260 i threw him in 4 parlays mostly with the lock of the year in mayweather by un decision/ko tko/ dq prop.

wait, I'm confused...are you saying that Curran or Albu is hotter?

Itching to bet Maia. I took a bit at 2.55 (Betsafe/Betsson).

Holy shit, Sage looks shredded as fuck

Yeah I saw that, wasn't sure if anyone had some updated info.

Sterling wants more money to fight at 140lbs.
Barao said he'd fight him in New York, a week earlier, at 135lbs as he's already close to weight and near hometown fight for Sterling. He doesn't have the pull to make those decisions though it is a pretty good solution.

I'm usually always pro-fighter but I'd want sterling to at least have momentum before sticking it to the man.

Sterling doing his best to turn this into boxing, crying about 5lbs

Cmon man on fight night it's really hard to imagine Barao is gonna be significantly bigger either way

Confidence increase in the already bad stylistic matchup that is Woodley.

UFC been trying to stifle Maia last couple fights, but he just keeps pushing through, wouldn't be shocked to see him backpack Woodley either.
