Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series (1 thru 5)

Overall pleased with my analysis of the event. Won on Marquez, but lost on Candido. I am not that upset about Candido, as he should have held that back position 9/10 times. Still stunned that a champion black belt could not hold a purple belt down. That could have and should have been a clear 30-27 sweep.

Based on his fight iq, I can probably never bet Candido ever again though. Stunned Hawes was near 2-1 favorite, and that might be the last time we get an underdog that good against him.

Honestly went against the thinking here and bet against Candido based on his fight with Eric Shelton. Candelario seemed competent enough to defend subs, and 90% of what Candido does is just fish for them. Figured if it went the way it would go in my head Candelario could at least out-point him with strikes/gnp.

I still don't think Candelario is anywhere near as good as Shelton, and imo this was more of Candido failing than it was Carlos succeeding. If you see Candido's Shooto Brazil fight, he was all over a BJJ black belt for 3 rounds, and didn't even break a sweat, but here as soon as Candelario escaped one position (backmount no less) in R1 and they were both on their feet, Candido was visibly tired. It completely went against what he is capable of, and what we saw on tape. With the Shelton fight, imo, that is a different situation since you have to fight multiple fights and cut weight multiple times in the TUF house.

Still, stuff like this will help capping in the future.

Already beginning the process for this card since the work is all done for Mexico City.

Starting with the Everett Sims bout, there's virtually no footage of him aside from his GLORY fight.

Looked at this week's card to get my mind off tonight's card before it starts. This is my plan so far

Julio Arce - heavy
Jones/Rodriguez under, lean Rodriguez (could be trap)
Alex Perez - light
Ricky Simon - medium, bet if underdog for sure
Shelton Graves - unless Sims is a big underdog. Sims experienced K1 kickboxer

Heavy on Arce because Petties is the weakest looking "flashy" striker I've seen. He fights like Marc Diakiese with bad timing and reactions.

I guy I used to train with fought Jamell as an amateur. I fought at bantamweight and the guy I trained with fought at heavyweight and I subbed him a bunch. Jamell was like a d2 wrestler. It was a drubbing.

I don't think highly of Jamell as he gasses and is very chinny.

I'll have to check out his opponents fights but I'm looking to fade him if his opponents takedown defense is decent.

Pretty much a template of Jones skills. Good wrestler but chinny and fades. He can go 3 hard rounds if youre easy to takedown though.

This might be my favorite card (Sans odds) for betting and entertainment.

This Julio Arce is a lock?

You bet your Arce he is!

Jk, I don't know yet. Just wanted to use that line first.

So far, likely skipping the Graves vs Sims fight due to lack of footage, especially on Sims. My lean was Graves, but there is video of him getting rocked badly before getting choked out. On paper, Sims can do that, though his grappling is a big unknown other than he trains at ATT with Alexey Oleynik and he's a blue belt. Graves more proven the longer the fight goes, and the Lorenzo Hood fight seems to sum up his game.

Will be interesting to see how they set the line.

Some footage on Mike Rodriguez, not the most recent stuff but I guess its something:

Flying knee KO vs Stephfond Ewis

Triangle choke vs John Poppie

I will parlay :
Ricky Simon
Julio Arce
Mike Roudrigez (sick flying knee)

Suggestions ?

KOTC Battle Zone is on Fight Pass, which has Jamelle Jones vs Mike Hayes in the main event at 215 lb catchweight. From 5/19/16.

Lmao @ some of these names. KOTC Due Process?

i haven't heard of anyone except frelow. where should i start?

This Julio Arce is a lock?

I wouldn't want to call anything a lock, but it's the closest you can get on this card. It's a lopsided mismatch imo. Arce is a legit prospect who trains with Lyman Good, strong ground game and solid standup. Only losses come from close fights with Brian Kelleher. Petties likes to taunt and throw kicks, boxing itself looks a little poor, doesn't seem to offer much else.

Idk about Rodriguez really. He seems like the better choice but I think he's a trap. I'll just go for the under

Check out this Jones finish lol
