Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series- Season 2

On the favs here besides Smith. It feels like these cards have been getting worse lately and odds are wider.
This whole season has included a bunch of showcase mismatches. And they have given out a lot of contracts to really green but promising fighters who will get thrown into the ufc without enough experience. Might be some nice fade spots coming up

Are you saying you’re playing Smith as the dog? Do you think he can avoid the grind?

I wonder how well my two principles of 'Bet the darker fighter' and 'bet the fighter with more KOs in their last 5' would have gone so far this season.

i am on Lowry as i feel like he has more ways to win but there is not much recent tape avaliable so its mostly just a gut feeling bet for me

“I started wrestling when I was 5, pretty much wrestling my whole life. I got into kickboxing at 15. Then I went back into wrestling. I went 47-2 my senior year in wrestling. My wrestling coach was a professional MMA fighter so I pretty much got introduced to it by him.”

thats a big part of why i bet Lowry as Smith looked completely lost on the ground vs Gunther.. Smith is really young though so he could have improved tdd/ground alot since that fight

Yes, Smith as the dog. I was looking at it pre-odds and figured it'd be the only fight with close odds. My initial lean was either fighter as the dog here. I think a lot of stock is being put into the Gunther loss, but it looked like Smith had adrenaline dump after trying to finish. Other than that, I've been pretty impressed. When it comes to wrestlers on this show, they better be pretty damn imposing as grinding out a decision is not favorable here.

That’s kinda the angle I’m looking at it from too. At even money I’d be on Lowry just not sure if I want to lay the juice or take a stab on the dog. I’ll probaby just end up passing.

Valid points. I do kinda think that Smith had a bad performance against Gunther that won’t necessarily be repeated here.

My boy Gilpin dropped to -180, was good enough to close my Hardy parlay, 1u +111. Will probably add to Gilpin, but kinda pissed that Coughran is pretty legit and they still opened him so wide. At this point in their careers, Gilpin should be the much more polished guy in there, blending his striking and wrestling together. Watch out for his front headlock series tonight, my prediciton is a finish by Darce choke, either after rocking him (JR got dropped 3 times by jabs against Carey) or after sprawling on a shot.

Devonte smith

-training @ factory x with hugh camp and people
-due to work and money constraints was unable to get down to factor x till now full time fighting also
-elevation there is high so helped with his cardio training
-last management team were not focusing and on top of things so changed lately, new management got him this contender shot at least.
-lowry is very beatable, has technique, speed and working at factory x taken him another level up
-feels is at the top and able to compete with the best, may look a bit different, working on jits, cardio, wrestling and striking.
-if people are looking at his old tape it wont be the same guy in there
-worked with ian, youseff (recent contender guys) siler, foster from pfl roster and james krause who helped him out big time also. Everyone solid and helping him at this gym.
-is 161, was dropping weight too quick so told to eat more otherwise its going well
-always go for the finish, says hes heard some bonuses are possible
-wont gas himself out though if it goes full 15 minutes wants that performance and contract still
-guther loss was a blessing in disguise since could only improve from there on

Jr Coughram

-got fight during mid may time frame, just said anything and any opponent
-lay off was due to few things, was a backup alternate on tuff series, training for another fight but then broke his neck (fractured) had a brace for a little while but some training. Was a 6 week recovery due
to a small fracture.
-wrestled since junior high, loves competing- watched matt brice vs bermudez and loved it and then went to his gym to train from there.
-is a physical therapist with top dog and heal people as a day job.
-alex opponent is very very tough, wants to prove himself to dana and all, he is a strong grappler
and so am I. Both throw hands and its evenly matched. Both bring it and will be fun to watch.
-jerrod sanders main training partner, spoon brothers, edward williams and working at force mma gym and matt grice.
-cuts 5 pounds, so weights great and getting in shape and being ready
-gut feeling someone will break but will fight till one gives up, sees a tough fight but either ko or distance.

Alex Gilpin

-spars even on saturdays
-discusses his technical aspect against his last fight (russian fight) and wanted to go back
and improve and fix a few things.
-stayed in shape was expecting ufc, otherwise another acb fight end of this year could be done
-known about it for 3 weeks about this fight, wasn't too sure when can mention time frame and fight
-perfect match up against Jr, hes got a wrestling background and decent boxer and good on the ground, but feels he is better in all aspects and during the transitions in mma.
-was in Colorado on vacation to see family, worked in genesis gym, justin gaethje and few others.
-weight cuts fight, always keeps it in check, within 15-20 pounds so is fine.
-sees a ko or sub in first 2 rounds, feels his opponents got a lot of heart and is really good and he handles adversity very well but there are certain things you can get away with but not with guys on his level.
-is salty about his split loss since he feels he won it and should be undefeated also

Bobby moffett

-happy got the W last fight but always room for improvement, dana white was there watching it too
-felt he would get a short notice call from dana for contender shot (dana told him this)
-fought dudes like kilburn before, hes a good striker, hes all round pretty good fighter and tough
but all of them are tough so takes him seriously, sees a r1 finish though
-training is going well @ the lab, sees buddy klose (ufc) getting the win so is pleased for him and trained with him for that fight.
-eddie, ben and krause in corner
-fights going to go where it goes, but does still feel its a r1 finish will punch him and see what happens

Random question here guys..

Long story short: A year ago our goverment closed the only 2 betting websites we had in Argentina (they were really shady tho) so I had to stop gambling.
Now 1XBET is available on my country and Im about to make a small deposit and start playing again.
Do you have any references? Other than see it as a sponsor in RCC (iirc) IDK much about them. Are they reliable?

I don't recommend it. Shady russian based bookmaker. It has a long history of canceled bets and banned accounts here. Some bookmakers allow to use vpn, i played unibet this way when it was closed in Russia. But u should ask support for permission.

His opponent Bryant's experience is from Alaska Fighting Championship. Not very good opposition.
Only has one opponent with a winning record, it's been pretty profitable to fade AFC fighters so far.
Kennedy has a 10 inch reach advantage (4 inches taller) and he uses it pretty well, I think he'll get the finish here, whatever he lacks in wrestling/grappling compared to Bryant should be made up for by his size/strength/athleticism

Kennedy's opponents other than Berzin were 0-1, 0-2, 9-10, and 7-14. Berzin dominated him in round 1 and probably would've won pretty decisively if he had any cardio, but he's used to rd 1 finishes.

I really don't think he uses his range that well. At least not nearly as well as he should. And I really can't find any fights where he actually utilizes his "size/strength/athleticism". This is a Jon Jones-physique kind of guy who only has one rd 1 finish on his record.

In my case they take Argentinian Pesos and they are allowed to operate here so I dont think I should use a VPN or anything.

Thanks for the comment. I would keep it in mind and if I start to make some money (I play small anyways) I will be doing small withdrawals.

I guess 5Dimes and Bookmaker don't accept customers from Argentina? In the alternative instead of worrying about who accepts Argentinian pesos, why not purchase some Bitcoin and bet MMA at some of the Bitcoin specific sportsbooks or exchanges like NitrogenSports or Fairlay? You're mostly going to be limited to moneylines and totals but at least you can bet every fight on every UFC card.

My plays tonight

I hit Moffett Moneyline -- Kilburn has to finish Moffett. Kilburn does not have the skillset to win rounds vs Moffett's wrestling. Moffett is an easy ass play. Moffett is also durable and tough to finish. I would put him in the -700 range so there is value on his current line. I know people don't like playing big favorites but -400 is a fine price if anyone wants to get in on it.

I got Hardy moneyline at -280 so I am pumped about that. Wouldn't touch the current line.

I hit Coughran at +240. I think this is a very close fight. Both guys can wrestle and I think Coughran has the more powerful and accurate strikes. I do think Gilpin has a cardio edge which could be huge, but given the skill sets, i will take +240 all day with Coughran, he has plenty of ways to win.

I hit Smith as an underdog as well. Not much tape on Lowry but the small amount that I have seen of him looks like he really struggles getting tds. Smith is super powerful and has been improving and should have a big stand up advantage here.

Coughran has beaten jobbers and gilpin collegiate wrestling background is far beyond jr's. I got -185 tho wouldnt have played over -200

I hear you. But I got the guy at plus 240 and his wrestling both defensively and offensively looks pretty good. I do not think Gilpin is going to walk through him with wrestling at all. I could see it later with Gilpin's cardio edge, but Coughran has shown very good hips, sprawls, whizzers, and other defensive folkstyle wrestling moves. And he has a powerful blast double.
