UFC 229: McGregor vs Khabib

This helps Khabib. And the fact that Khabib will definitely be his best self, and who knows what Conor will show up the way he has been acting.

But Conor has proven himself to the point that you can’t question his coaching + training too much.
Fair enough. Just trying to play the devils advocate here. I'm not betting this fight. I'd rather watch the circus unfold.

God I love seeing some of you liking Conor bc I want so badly for him to pull it off but god I just don’t see it. Hate to say it but I expect him to get mauled. Although, I’ve expected him to lose each of his last 4 fights except the first one against Diaz. And also I lost 10u betting on Aldo against him.

One of my first mma bets was on aldo. I was sure he was going to whoop Conor

It was over before I knew what happened. I was their live. It was a madhouse

By the next event I had learned my lesson. I went to msg and bet Conor over alvarez

Unpopular opinion but: 2018 Conor McGregor’s skills are vastly overexaggerated. He is facing larger, more well-rounded competition than he ever has in his career. His left hand is not god sent. His cardio is bottom tier & his wrestling defense is average. He’s loyal (not in a bad way) to an average camp, can’t grow in a bubble. But perhaps most importantly, he simply doesn’t have the hunger to win that he had in his younger years, he has enough money to set his family up for generation. He spent half the presser shilling his new whiskey. His legacy is cemented by his charisma - he doesn’t need this W.

First mma bet I ever made was on Rich Franklin to beat Anderson Silva after 2 minutes of watching I knew my cash was going down the tubes

Lol - I wasn’t betting on mma back then but Ace was my fave back then and holy fuck was I disappointed at how that fight went. Eye opening to say the least!

No such props in Vegas.

There “was” some for a while, where a handful of books allowed me to I’d combine the o/u’s with the ML to create my own props and I was taking full advantage of them for like a whole year but they finally removed the option unfortunately like, last month or so.

I think the Westgate is your best bet and the only book left that offers full o/u’s now in Vegas. It’s stupid how little action there is for MMA in vegas which is the fight capital of the world.

Damn, that's ridiculous. Thanks for the info.

The Tropicana, last time I visited a few months ago, let me make 4-5 team parlays(5 team parlays generally aren't smart -- but it's a bit surprising they even allowed it). They also had o/u's for every fight.

I thought at least ONE casino in Vegas, strip or downtown, would at least have prop bets for an event of this magnitude. But I guess they're content just making money off of college football and NFL games.

I have a serious question to any bettors - if you bet on sports and bet the spread (for example, Rams to beat Vikings -7) and the score is 31-38 meaning -7 makes it a tie, do you get the W or L for that?

It's a push and you get your money back.

I have it parlayed with 1 other games, still shown as an open bet (not win or loss)

The parlay gets downgraded from a 2 team to a 1 team. Basically, your remaining parlay is now going to be treated as a regular single bet at the single bet odds.

How is he overrated? He was the dog last fight against that bum ffs

Hasnt fought anybody decent and although i like the kid he is way too easy to hit. Only a matter of time until he gets KO'd unless he corrects this. I just dont see him doing that until he loses. I just wouldnt back him

People can talk about Mcgregor/khabib all they want. If you do t like it you don’t have to read it

Great style clash. Two of the most elite fighters in their respected form of combat.

Some people are viewing at as 50/50 but the odds don’t reflect that. So there’s value there. Personally it’s a fight I wouldn’t go big on. I’m actually quite heavy on kunitskaya.

This is a marquee match up and deserves the attention.

If you want to talk about something else then, just , do it.

Kunitskaya may well end up being my biggest bet of the year....

Its funny how some question Conor's mental and theatrics when he's essentially the most gifted fighter in the UFC when it comes to leaving everything at the door when in the cage. Look at how erratic he acted leading up to the Aldo fight, the Alvarez fight, and then steps in smooth, loose and completely ready for the task at hand. I dont think Khabib will even be close to Nate in dealing with the pressure when he steps in with Conor.

Thank you sir, that was NOT very obvious to me.

spot on m8. nate truly isn't scared of anything, conor didn't have much ammunition to try and rattle Nate, besides the scrap pack doing steroids. Nate might be the most raw fighter on the roster. In the sense that he doesn't consider himself an athlete, doesn't introduce himself as a UFC fighter, he's just a fighter from the jects. Nate didn't care about short notice, didn't care about headlining the biggest PPV in years, all he wanted to do is fight. Nate called Conor out in December, he fought him in March.

Khabib has been wanting to fight McGregor specifically for 2 years. There is no doubt Khabib is feeling the pressure of defending his belt against the guy who talked shit on his friends, family, and country. Who da fook knows how much emotion Khabib will carry into the octagon, truly none of us know. Nobody would have guessed that Aldo would abandon technique and his 10 year win streak the second he could trade punches with Conor.

8 days fuckers!

You guys have a point. imo khabib doesn't seem that gotten to but it's just an opinion. He probably feels at least some sort of pressure after all the shit colon has said. Colon, on the other hand, has already proven he is able to perform under this circumstances. I really want khabib to win and he definitely can, but if I play this fight it'll be conor via tko

Once they step in the octagon with the crowd, its a different game. The pressure must be truly suffocating, then you see your opponent basing in the glory.

I truly think not having a crowd to try and get accustomed to a similar pressure was bad for Khabib.

True. I don't think Khabib has ever been in an intense crowd atmosphere. Prelims of 205, Co-main event of Holm/Cyborg..., and main event of a squash match.

UFC 223's main event has no buzz. Arena was hype for Joanna-Rose, everyone around me was discussing who won each round and what the score was, great applause for a great fight. That excitement maybe carried into the first round of Khabib-Al, and quickly diminished in the later rounds.

- Questioning Khabib's ability to handle pressure

- Is from a war torn country that has a level of cultural stoicism rarely found in the West (repression of emotion is integral to the identity of men from Dagestan)
