UFC 231 Holloway vs Ortega

Its a tough case for Elias to point fight this dude for 3 rounds. Anders gonna put that pressure and imo score enough to edge the scores. As far as finishing chances I think we can all agree that Elias finishing Anders would be a shocker. Anders gas tank is not a concerned to me. Thiago had him rocked and smacked to the body, other than that his gas tank has looked good.

Anders and Max lines seem to good to be true rn.

Anders pressure? Like he did to Machida? I don't believe in Anders pressure...

Officially not putting any money on this event. To many question marks. I do like a few ov/un bets but not gonna pull the trigger on anything. Besides, I just really wanna sit and enjoy these fights and kick the shit with you guys in the chat tonight. I'll just play my sportsbook money so it isn't a big deal! Goodluck tonight everybody!

Theodorou kind of struggled with Kelly and Smith, two old guys that aren't athletic or dangerous.

Anders looking in great shape at the weigh ins, saying all the right things in interviews.

I think if Ander's comes out and does what he says he's gonna do, he'll win this fight

Fighters always do what they say they’re going to do.

Forget what they’ve actually done in previous fights. That’s irrelevant

He pressured against Santos, so there's that. He's still very green so you should expect improvements from earlier fights

For me this match up all comes down to how Anders performs, he hasn't been consistent. Theodorou tries to do the same thing every fight

It builds my confidence that he's acknowledged in multiple interviews that he needs a decisive win in Canada and he needs have higher volume. Two major concerns.

If Anders fights like he says he will then I think he wins, at the very least he is aware of what he needs to do, I can't trust him 100% but what he's been saying builds my confidence.

Holy shit its fight day. What a stacked card. Haven't been anticipating a title fight like this since Whittaker Romero 2 earlier this year. The legit #1 vs the legit #2 go at it tonight to cement who is the better man and I cannot wait.

Oh and theres a chick title fight too I guess.

How long have you been watching MMA? What fighters say they are going to do before a fight is largely irrelevant. Anders has pretty consistently been too patient whereas Elias has pretty much always fought to the same level. I'd rather bet on the guy who I have seen fight to the same level over numerous performances. And to be honest we actually have a pretty good read on Anders from his previous fights. He's consistently been too cautious. It's a personality thing

Anders' stance is too hunched and just plain not athletic. You can't close the distance fast enough and cut the cage off on opponents with that stance. Not only that, you have to throw some punches to make them give up real estate, it's a multy prong approach. His stance is too defensive for to be used to pressure.

Frankie Edgar was never KO’d or TKO’d in his entire career until Ortega did it. How could you not have known or heard that fact already? It’s been stated dozens of times by every analyst under the sun.
Meant to say rocked obviously. I'm fully aware he was never KO'd my pic is literally of Edgar. He was getting hurt like mad all the way back fighting guys like Gray Maynard then countless times since vs Benson Henderson, Stephens etc. He always had a good chin but it was ability to just survive no matter what while hurt that was actually notable, same thing defending subs like that kneebar in his debut. He was always vulnerable but never quit.

5d has the fight at -110 for a bit now. I can't remember the last time I saw even money on a main event. Anybody with a better memory remember? Maybe Aldo/Mcgregor?

Pretty sure Till Woodley was close to even for memory, Bisping GSP too was pretty even.

Anyone else got butterflies for the fights, or something like it? This card has got me pretty anxious.

I hear you on his stance problems and movement, but to say he’s not athletic? Gotta disagree, clearly both guys know what they gotta do, I just think Elias running away tapping anders here and there for a win is less likely than anders either wrestling, or pressuring and getting a stoppage or a decison.

Elias has a clear path to victory but it’s a tough ask to point fight on ur back foot for 3 rounds without any real threats

so many, garbarandt/dillashaw 1 and 2, till vs woodley, romero vs whittaker, thompson/till, ngannou/miocic etc.

His stance is not athletic, not him. His stance is not good for sudden bursts, quick movements to either side, he pretty much can't use kicks in that stance too, it's just not balanced.

Yep, hoping the main event will be epic. the main card is sunday afternoon in my time zone around dinner and putting kids to bed time. I told my wife I have a work meeting so am going to the pub where there are no distractions :)
