Kelvin Gastelum predicts 1st round KO over Robert Whittaker: ‘I’m expecting it not to even be close

Kelvin is good and all but turning over that left hand will give Bobby Knuckles the ample opportunity to blast.

I don’t see where Kelvin has any advantages striking, Bobs has just looked so good lately and it’s going to take a extraordinary effort to get him outta there if the Yoel fights are any marker.

But then again with these gloves, dudes can lose that chin quick.

Give me Whittaker 1st round KO

Kelvin is worth my $20 bet he wins by KO/TKO

That Romero II fight had to take alot out of Robert.

Imagine how happy poor Chris would be if Kelvin wins.

"I beat the current champ!"

Because this is as close as Chris will ever again be to having any connection to the middleweight title. Let the man know a little joy one last time.

Ima call bullshit on this unless i see a source

And no bjpenn.com is not a source

Not going to look for it bc it wasn't a headline it was in an interview somewhere.

Feel free to pretend you didn't even read my post.

I hope Whittaker knocks out Gastellum. Id rather would have wanted someone else to fight for the belt than Gastelum

I"m not sold on Gastelum. Fast hands, good power and great chin, but not any real depth to his game besides that.

Also, aside from Jacare, his entire MW run has been against guys who are past their prime, and I'm willing to believe what Jacare said about having a bad weight against Gastelum after seeing how he was able to turn up the intensity against Weidman in the second half of their fight.

Robert has been through two wars with Yoel but he'll remind everyone why he's the MW champion.

Whittaker declined to fight Gastelum several times before this and his management was even open as to why.

They said Kelvins wrestling, speed, and boxing offered more problems and a more difficult fight than Luke who he was scheduled to fight at one point.

Wrestling? Whittaker has never had any issues with wrestlers. Fact is you can say he has the best TDD at MW or up there with the guys like Romero. Do you have a link to this though?

Getting hit by Kelvin will probably tickle compared to Romero for whittaker... Only danger from gaste is the speed but Whitaker has more striking tools he can use IMO and he's wrestling ain't shit either...

Whitaker by TKO round 3..i think gaste will look to wrestle early and often and gas in the process opening the door for Whitaker to get the stoppage in the middle round..as Robbie was able to get up and out grapple Romero is some moments of there fights.. If he can do that.. Kelvin shouldn't be a problem Romero is abetter wrestler then kelvin

This fight is fascinating to watch due to the speed of Gastelum which is a perk that Robert has had with middleweights, whereas in this fight it will backfire. I believe that Kelvin has the best 1-2 in the game and if it lands flush it may be the beginning of the end given Whittaker has taken so many shots from Romero. Then again if Robert uses his push kicks and keeps it at distance he'll dominate.

Good post.

The problem is that Whittaker doesn't stay still. Will he land the 1-2 with a guy with great footwork and lateral movement? I think not. I think he'll spend more time waiting for an opportunity than executing.

We shall see :)

I agree, he doesn't struggle greatly with wrestlers.

No link.

Solid attempt to work random Weidman hate into a thread that has nothing to do with him. A for effort

I never liked Kelvin, good fighter but I hope Rob knocks the fuck out of him

Either way I want to see Kelvin fight yoel Romero after

That's a good way to see it to and I agree. Robert's lateral movement is a thing of beauty but I dunno, Kelvin does cut those angles quite well too. Jacare was catching Kelvin on the way in with overhands sometimes too so that's another thing but the kicks will make the huge difference in Robert's favour I believe.

Overall I think Whittaker is the superior fighter but I can see Gastelum giving him some problems. I favour Whittaker, but not by much.
