Fairtex BGV6 & BGV9 Comparison

Ohh I thought it was a change to the strap they attached the thumb with. My bad.
There might be a difference with the thumb. It's difficult to say, but looking at side by side pics, there appears to be thicker foam and the wrist strap is obviously different. Some comments said the hand compartment is bigger, but can't tell from looking at them. There does appear to be more room for fingers at the end. It's just odd there are several things different in the gloves, so not really "minor change".
Here's the thread with the side by side pics of both gloves:

@Minowafanatic how are your BGV6's are they the same as mine were?

From what I can tell so far, yes. I have had them for nearly 3 weeks, but used them for about 10 rounds only. I got them in 16oz. I feel like your review did a very good job of covering what someone would need to know. I've not used them much because they are so fucking uncomfortable when hitting with that really hard padding on the inside. I don't have any knuckle injuries. I've kept them stuffed full of socks and even golf balls in socks for two weeks after getting them, every day re-stuffed and adding more as they've expanded inside. I need to do that so I can have the space inside to use the Winning NG2s with them which feels like a total necessity with how hard the inner padding is.

They are definitely the least friendly gloves I own as far as sparring would be concerned, but maybe the Fairtex will feel better after breaking in. I had expected a softer glove given how Fairtex advertises them. The stitching is super tight. The leather has marked on one of the gloves quite a bit for how little I've done with them but maybe it's just a fluke. Fairtex did surprisingly alright to accommodate long fingers/long hands in them, though I think they'd maybe be tough for people who had thick/big hands to wear though. Everything is stiff throughought so the wrist support is good. Glove is well balanced and the thumb is pretty good for me.

Yeah I felt the biggest issue is that inner padding. My gloves haven't marked up at all really since this review. But I've probably only put 80 rounds of sparring in with them. My internal padding softened up pretty quickly but I do wonder if they've perhaps changed it and made it even harder

@Woldog
Hey man, I'm currently looking for a pair of gloves to replace my 16oz Boons for heavy bag work. The BGV9's sound great, but I'm afraid that their hand compartment is too roomy for me. Could you compare them to any Thai-brand or even Winning regarding the fit? Thanks in advance

I really liked the BGV9s, but was very disappointed by the BGL7s. I wish they just took the BGV9s and added laces, but the BGL7s are way tougher on the hands than the 9s.

I had BGL7s which are the lace-up version of BGV9. I only used them in sparring when at rival clubs. They are super super dense and hard. Roughest padding on a glove I've ever had. Great review and they're great gloves in their own way too for those that like that dense feel. My fingers were a bit too long for them to make a fist properly unfortunately otherwise I'd have kept them just for sparring jerks or at different clubs. There are plenty of 10oz gloves I'd rather get hit by than a 16oz BGL7/BGV9

edit: found a post by someone saying that BGL7/BGV9 are not identical and BGL7 has harder padding

Greetings Minowafanatic!
I would really appreciate your feedback about the following.
I have a pair of Fairtex BGV9s (14oz, "minor change") that I really like and now I wanted to get a pair of lace ups. Are the BGL7s a good comparison? Especially in regards to construction... I know that the padding is slightly harder on the lace ups, but I don't mind that. I actually like the latex springy feeling.
Also, the BGL7s will cost me around $125 shipping included, which is kind at the same level of the Cleto Reyes lace ups ($150 at Amazon). Which would you get between the BGL7s and the lace ups Cleto training gloves?
Going back to me BGV9s, I just love the way they fit my hand, the thumb placement, the grip bar at the finger tips, everything is just perfect.
Thanks in advanced for your feedback!

Hi ThaiGae, are they that different? I also have the BGV9s (new model) and was looking to get a similar lace up option. You mentioned that the BGL7s are tougher on the hands... is it the padding? the lining? both? Structurally, are they similarly constructed?

I personally dislike both gloves for my own hands, but I would estimate that more people would prefer the Cletos to the BGL7s.

Yeah I imagine if you had the choice of Fairtex or Cletos, Cletos would be the choice lol
