I think The Chris is afraid of a tune up fight, incase he's the one gets tuned up. Like Munhoz v cody or Cannonier v Branch.
Knowing his history, I'll say he calls out the loser of adesanya v Gastelum. That way when he goes 1-5 he's still losing to top guys and ranked high, come 239 he's even going up the ranks when rockhold goes to LHW.

Put him in a tournament with tito or aikiyana. All 3 of them went up in rankings with losses

My view is....Chris Weidman's time at the top has been and gone. Am sure that's not a huge surprise to people.

If he wants to prove he is still a main contender he has to take a big fight against someone dangerous and legit and WIN..... and am sure all the posters above have plenty of good suggestions.

EDIT : Till at 185, or Uriah Hall or Cannonier seem like good options. I think Weidman should go to 205 simply because his time at 185lbs is more or less over IMHO. With every respect to Chris. Maybe it will re-invigorate his fight career.

I would say he should go for some fun money fights and forget about the belt (like Pettis is doing now).. BUT.. the guy he beat a year or so ago is about to fight for the belt so he has a case to make that he's a title challenger if he wins another fight. I like his chances against both Whittaker and Gastelum, just not anyone else in the top 5 though.

I don't completely disagree, but one win in 4 years.... and that makes ya #6 is kinda crazy (division wise) -- Don't really adhere to rankings, but it is what it is. MW is a proper cluster fuck since Silva anyways.

I think Costa smashes Chris and Brunson vs Chris would be interesting but...... I think Brunson wins that.
