Looking back on his career it's pretty crazy who he beat despite being at best a mid level contender. He was supposed to be the showcase for Pettis and beat him in his UFC debut.

clay also was the first to display a ground transition/sub feint in the ufc. He was in tyson griffins guard and he faked reaching back for a heel hook then came over the top with a nice right hand. some creative ground and pound at the time and iv only seen it replicated by his teammate Jon Jones against shogun.

people can talk all the shit about jacksons they want because they arnt the only dominating gym anymore. but they found creative little tricks that all their long time veterans implore. diego,jones, condit, clay, melvin g. cowboy.
