After watching Smith vs Gus, I'm not convinced that Jones runs through the PRIDE LHW division.

Gus is the second best win on Jon's resume and the guy that arguably beat prime Jones......who just got finished by a MW journeyman.

I think the prime versions of Shogun, Hendo, Wand, Reem, Arona, Lil Nog etc. give Jones a run for his money and may even beat him in a tournament format under PRIDE rules.

I used to think that Jones was too good for all of them, but now I've changed my mind after seeing just how shit his competition really is.


I also used to think that Jones vs prime Fedor was a 50-50 fight, but now I'm 90% sure that Fedor would've laid him the fuck out.

You are wrong. All of the guys you mentioned would be utterly destroyed by DC let alone Jones.

Also, if its under PRIDE rules, Jon can use stomps and GROUNDED KNEES!!!!....you think a few years yonger is going to help Shogun not die against the GOAT?

The only elite PRIDE LHW he fought was Shogun, who was 6 years past his prime and coming off several serious knee injuries.

Even Vitor almost snapped his arm in half on short notice.

Yep, sometimes the truth is a tough pill to swallow but it is what it is...Wand is a good example, his style that he could use in 2003 would get him KOed inside a round by most guys of equal or lesser size today.

Prime Wand has wins over: Dan Henderson, Sakuraba X3, Yoshida, Rampage X2, Arona, and heavyweights like Fujita.

There's no way he isn't top 10 in the shitty UFC LHW division of 2019.

Well you have a point . All the guys you named are still talked about . Lol shogun is still top 10 . The light heavyweight division is worst then heavyweight . The talent pool they have to work with is so low . If all the big names from your Division are still guys from 2005 . That’s sad .

Nope. And Gus is not Jones' 2nd best win. Gus' resume is losing close to Jones and DC. His best wins are a crappy decision against an ancient Shogun and a win over washed up Glover. He has done almost nothing in MMA to warrant his status.

I think we need to stop calling Smith a MW journeyman and realize that he's actually pretty good.

Don't get me wrong, it was an awful fight, awful.

That said, the claim that Jones wouldn't have beaten PRIDE LHWs is a little silly.

Who are you claiming would have beat him?
 
Gus is not Jones' second best win.
 
Under Pride sanctions where you can juice to your hearts content Jones would be pretty much unstoppable.
