As of June 30th 2019, only around 700 guns have been turned in.

I applaud this act of civil disobedience on the part of the people of New Zealand.

Non-participation is a perfectly valid form of civil disobedience.

Question for the War Room:

Do you view this as a valid form of civil disobedience? If so why? If not, why not?

A certain Nate Diaz quote comes to mind...

(and to answer the question, yes this is valid civil disobedience)

Valid. The government is supposed to be the arm of the people. The people have the right to change that government, and the government should not be allowed to undermine the people's ability to do that.

Sadly that isn't the mentality that most of the world has of the government. Most people view the government as a completely separate entity. It's why they don't think twice about funding more bullshit. They are too dumb to realize that this money comes directly from them.

Well they asked for this. Citizens should have the right have firearms.

I am impressed by their performance.

Valid. The cucked Jacinta Admnistration used it as political maneuver to punish law-abiding citizens bc of one extremely rare occurrence.

In B$ "come and take it"

Washington Post article for those wanting something a little more mainstream. Also, I'd like to point this out:

The government, meanwhile, is faced with a sobering set of challenges over how to enforce the new law.

There is no national registry for many of the weapons targeted by the ban, including the AR-15 — a semiautomatic rifle that has been used in mass shootings in the United States and is often at the center of American gun-control debates.

Meanwhile, the government of Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is moving ahead with plans to further tighten gun controls. Measures could include a national firearms registry and a more comprehensive vetting process for gun ownership.

“We acknowledge that you’re a law-abiding citizen and through no fault of your own you now find yourself in possession of firearms that are now illegal,” he said, but he noted that once the amnesty period expires, there is no excuse for holding on to weapons.

The authorities, who estimate there are 1.2 million to 1.5 million firearms in New Zealand, have written to every registered firearms owner to inform them of their obligations, he said.

But Yasbek pointed out that some of the banned weapons, including AR-15 rifles, fall into Category “A” in the New Zealand licensing system, which means they were not required to be registered in police databases and as such will be impossible to trace.

She added that the new law, while laudable, requires tightening to increase public safety. This would include a mandatory gun register, records of all ammunition sales and requiring owners of those semiautomatics that remain legal to permanently disable their guns.

National gun registries serve only to enable the government to easier confiscate said firearms

But the leftist posters from New Zealand said the culture there is sooo different and that no one wants semi auto rifles.

Like it has already been said, registration only leads to confiscation. Do you really want to be disarmed by people that hate freedom, use Nazi tactics, create drag kids, open your borders and spread Islam?

I just think of the 300 million guns in America, the actual rate of mass shootings are pretty low when you factor in crime rates and the lack of mental health in this country. If people forgot, getting an illegal gun in the US is easy as fuck. The Virginia tech shooting was a guy with 2 pistols.

Then being realistic I could just rent a uhaul and fill it with a bunch of furniture from a thrift store for weight, weld a homemade steel bar system to the front of it, then drive it into a large crowd, which would kill a ton of people.

If someone wants to kill a bunch of people, they’ll find a way.

i think jefferson said it best: the tree of justice should be watered from time to time with the blood of patriots and trannies

i think franklin immediately added "and beer"

So many tragic boating accidents leaving so many firearms at the bottom of the ocean.

Good for them.

And again you see why we fight a national registery.

No, because it's not Civil Disobedience. The buyback hadn't actually started fully at that point. Full details of the programme were only announced in June 13, and the first of 200 local buy back events are only scheduled to begin next week in mid July, and goes through well past September.

More propaganda.

Hi, 'leftist poster' from New Zealand here. Buy back hasn't started yet. Those 'only' 700 were so keen that they handed them in to the police before the thing started. Don't get your hopes up for a NRA revolt here. Of course not all will be handed in, but there won't be large scale civil disobedience here. Not because we are sheep that lamely submit to any regulation imposed, but because we aren't religiously attached to our guns, and largely agree with the changes.
