UFC 241 Cormier vs Miocic II

Diaz beat Miller way worse than Pettis did back when Miller was younger and arguably better.

Chiesa was a pretty favorable matchup for Pettis, not to mention he had an incredibly rough weight cut. Chiesa has god awful stand-up, worse BJJ than Pettis, and is very hittable, which led to his demise in that fight.

I agree Barboza would obliterate Diaz.

I remember going into the Max fight, a lot of people thought Pettis would win using the same arguments that people are using against Diaz.

Max has 7-8 inches less reach than Diaz. I'm not saying Diaz is as good as a boxer as Max, Max has much better footwork than Nate. But Nate's boxing is literally levels ahead of Pettis.

I just don't see a path to victory for Pettis. He'll never follow through with a leg kick heavy gameplan, and barring an early head kick KO, he's going to get beat the fuck up standing by a superior boxer, who's longer, has better cardio, and pushes a pace that Pettis can't deal with.
Diaz pace and pressure overrated since he's fought a bunch of people who have shit gastanks and a tendency to front run in recent years. Pettis likely the better grappler, and will be able to tee off hard with kicks at will.

Nate's boxing is not particularly good. It's just willingness to take punishment and Pettis will win the dick measuring contest by a large margin.

How many units you in for?

I'm honestly a fan of both fighters, but Pettis tends to quit in fights. If he took some of the shots Nate took vs Conor, he wouldn't continue.

I mean just look at the Ferguson fight. He knew he was done, he didn't want to see the third round, was getting a great payday because it was on the biggest PPV in UFC history.

Do you think Nate would quit because he injured his hand? Highly doubtful.

And it's really hard to judge who's the better grappler -- if I had to put money on it, I'd say Nate. Just because he's been @ 170 for longer than Pettis has, but honestly the chance of this fight ending in sub from either side is incredibly, incredibly low.

Lemme just go full Diaz mode I guess. Pettis ain't about shit, he don't want no smoke, as soon as the fight turns ugly, he's gonna wilt mentally like the lil wheaties poster boy bitch that he is.

Best of luck on your bet though, I'll be on the opposite end, and I'll gladly eat some humble pie if Nate loses.

I'd pretty confidently say Pettis is the better grappler. Both have a solid guard game but Pettis has caught notably higher level guys like Benson and Melendez compared to Diaz who got most of his sub wins years ago against easier competition. I think the wrestlings the big difference though, both have a tendency to accept bottom position but when he wants Pettis can actually go for takedowns and implement a serviceable top game which against Diaz who has some fairly awful TDD he can probably do if he wants to at points.

I also think Pettis is better at 170 too, he looked like he actually filled out a bit at the weight and looked good physically while Diaz never really had any reason to go up there before other than he was frankly a bit lazy and didn't want to cut weight which I think also showed in his performances. When he came in looking in great shape and clearly motivated at 155 vs Johnson he put on a great performance and the kind I think he'll need here to beat Pettis. If he turns up at the weigh ins looking ripped and not skinny fat then I'll be getting a little nervous.

Nate's a whiny bitch who cries whenever guys dont just stand and box and hasn't changed his game since ever... Pettis loses heart and gives up as soon as things get tough.

It's a tough call, but I'm taking Nate to will himself to a win thinking about that Conor rematch pay day.

I wikicapped a bet on Diaz early on. Pettis is 1-5 against strikers since losing the belt. He’s 0-5 against strikers with pressure and volume. He’s breakable and Diaz is not.

Diaz is The pick here , this will look similiar to The Cerrone fight .

Bruh that fight was 8 years ago plus donald didnt really have his kicking game at that point in his career, not a great comparable fight

His kicking game was definitely legit at that time.

However, he looked incredibly off that night. So that fight definitely doesn't have much relevance to this one.

For some reason, he only wanted to box with Nate. I think Nate got in his head after flicking his hat off his head during the face off.

He threw some leg kicks that dropped Nate in round 3, but that's it.

I think Joe actually asked Cerrone in the post fight interview about it, and he said something about injuring his jaw because of riding horses.

I could be wrong though, I haven't seen it in a while. I definitely remember Cerrone just not looking like himself in that fight, though.

Yeah. Cerrone's anti straight line pressure game got a lot better over time. Was still a good kicker, but latter day Cerrone's a lot more tactical in his applications of such.

Thank u 4 clarifying my 80 iq thots

Inject Heinisch into my veins. Somehow people bet Brunson and the line gets better.

Also nice are the Cifers & Kang lines. All 3 will probably get smashed.

Been wondering what people think about that fight. Ian looked really good in his last outing and I think Derek is on the decline.

I think Diaz has a clear path to get under Pettis’ skin. Pettis is a vain dude. Pettis is already complaning that Diaz is ignoring him when there are no cameras.
