General MMA Discussion & Future Lines - January, 2019

@phased1 quick taped the main event, 0.5u on Kovacevic at +110. Seems like he can outwrestle him, Cartwright likes subs but only a blue belt and looks physically weak. Easy style to just grind out a dec against with basic wrestling which is what Kova did earlier in the night.

Edit: apparently Cartwright wrestled as a teen, could make it closer then. First time I'll be glad Brit wrestling is weak.

Lol that was fun at least, up about 1.2u overall. Cage Warriors guys have such terrible defence.

Hope Cartwright gets signed by the UFC soon so we can fade him. Jumping the guillotine and loading up on everything.

LFA 75 Risk $150.00

Andrew Cruz (+301) vs Jon Neal $75.00 for $225.75

Mauro Chaulet (+186) vs Samson Phommabout $75.00 for $139.50

Put 1176$ on masvidal x 1.85 vs diaz. He is still 1.6 in betstars, other sites have masvidal at 1.45.

Khabib Vs Tony lines up.
Looking to load up on Ferg when he drifts out. O2.5 @1.83 will shorten significantly you'd imagine

It looks like Betdsi offered live betting for the first time in years for the 242 main card. Something to keep an eye on.

They've had live betting for quite some time now for UFC main cards.

How in the world is Diaz a +170 dog to masvidal? Should I hammer before it the lines shift to evens or am I way off base here?

Both mid-tier journey men but I'd say Masvidal has the power and speed advantage

I thought the odds were pretty wide tbh

Masvidal is a way more technical and powerful striker and wrestler. Diaz BJJ could be marginally better but I doubt its a factor when he can never get good positions on Masvidal with his wrestling disadvantage.

Mas is probably an idiot and makes it closer but he should really win easily. He's always been a level above, had a 50/50 fight with someone like Benson Henderson while Benson just dominated Diaz for 5 rounds.

The line is def off, Diaz is the side. He can match the cardio and output of Mas and will stay in that face. Mas power might be a little over rated from those back to back KO wins but he seems to carry more power at 170.

The Benson Henderson fight reference makes no sense, Henderson was able to wrestle Nate but he had a hard time doing that to Mas who has good tdd so Henderson was forced to stand. This fight will be a standing fight I doubt either guy goes for td's, which helps Nate since taking down Nate has always been a path to victory against him.

It's been a long time since Masvidal went with a wrestling heavy approach, but we know he has it in his arsenal and if he goes for takedowns against Diaz, he's most likely going to get them. That could make the difference in what are likely going to be close rounds. The blueprint is there to beat Diaz, and Masvidal has the tools to do it IMO, it comes down to whether or not he takes the path of least resistance.

If you're right and the fight does stay standing, I'd agree that its going to be competitive and Diaz's higher volume should work in his favor. All that said, no bet from me at current lines since I feel they're fairly accurate.

Mas would be smart to go for td's or mix them in, but I doubt he does. He hasn't been using his wrestling for a long time, main event fight in MSG with tons of eyeballs watching, he will fight standing and make it exciting too. It's not like he has to worry about power standing from Diaz either, he will gladly keep this standing imo.

Masvidal is a far better wrestler and striker. Benson also beat up Nate standing and dropped him wasn't like he just wrestled him. Not sure why Masvidal wouldn't go for TDs either, ATT loves getting guys to use there wrestling games when its a clear path to victory and he took Till down recently and went for them on Wonderboy. Used his TDs a lot in the past when its an obvious path to victory, not that he really needs to here when aside from range he has most advantages vs Nate on the feet.

Masvidal has all the skills to do what Benson, RDA, Rory etc. did to Nate, I don't trust him as much as them because he historically makes fights closer than he should, but hard to justify him not being -200 when Nates path to victory is a very close decision dependent on Masvidal fighting like an idiot.

This is for the BMF title, no crotch sniffing
