Opinion Lebron James in America is "hands up, don't shoot". Lebron James in China is....

Lmao. Most of the people here are just shitting on lebron because they don’t like him. Not because they actually care about what’s going on in China.
lol you got a ‘gratitude like’ from @Leagon

LeBron is on the wrong side of this and it’s borderline wilful ignorance to not acknowledge it.

How are people just learning this as adults? Who ever taught you otherwise? Did you learn somewhere that you have to care about every social injustice on Earth?

It's surprising reading these posts from you in this thread.

you are essentially arguing for apathy against injustice, especially when the apathy is expressed by a NBA superstar whom you admire.

Seriously, it's very shameful. I expected better from you.

So...do you or do you not support the protests here? Let's use BLM. Did you support the BLM protests?

Lol...okay, then yall aren't illustrious. I don't give a shit about your fam, I was just going off of how you described them.

If the regional rep for BLM misses a protest because they are at their field office working, would you say they do not support the protests?

I'd be surprised if he votes at all. Most of those Hollywood progressive types don't even bother either. I remember when Ben Affleck talked about wanting a political career in the future, they discovered that he never even voted. That's how these people are.

I'm really hoping this is a major turning-point in the "Muh-Activism" fad. Lebron is not much of a leader, but he is leading the way when it comes to making wealthy, entitled, arrogant, mindless, spoiled-brat celebrities and athletes think twice before proclaiming to the public how #Woke they are. They are seeing that you might actually have to prove how #Woke you are and that could hurt their earning potential and popularity.

The NBA quickly changed its' tune from promoting itself as the "most woke league in sports" to "we just want to play basketball". I have a feeling we are going to be seeing more of that change of heart where businesses and the entertainment industry will be more silent about their #Wokeness and more vocal about the products they are selling.

Ali specifically refused to comment on the Vietnam War (which involved China) because he felt America's racist hypocrisy was more pressing. How is this different from what LeBron is doing?
It's funny the mental gymnastics some of you guys go through just to protect LeTrash.

AT THE END OF THE DAY THIS DOESN'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING WITH EVERYBODY ELSE BUT LEBRON. This isn't about Trump, Ali, or whoever the fuck. Lebron guy is a basketball icon all over the world with a net worth of 450 million dollars, who has claimed he would not shut up and dribble and he'd speak against the injustices of the world and so on. He has profited greatly from this persona and now real evil has stared him in the face and THE PEOPLE ARE NOW ASKING FOR HIS OPINION. It's time for him to man up and this is the true test of his integrity and moral compass. While Ali gets mentioned here as a comparison, Lebron's reaction or decisions to this situation still has nothing to do with Trump or Ali. This is all on James.

Let me ask you this. If you have 450 million dollars net worth and you're in a position to influence the world to oppose communist China who has been beating young and old people in HK while stripping them of their freedom, would you speak against China? Would you speak against China even if you'll lose a certain amount of money and fans? I'm pretty sure a lot of people here would speak against China and I would do too. Because 450million dollars is more than enough for me and I'd gladly take a hit just to fight the good fight. But LeTrash won't do it and he even said that what Morey did was kind of selfish and Morey was not educated about the subject. When in fact Morey was fighting the good fight and thinking about the HK protesters.

Or maybe I'm wrong, maybe some of you are indeed willing to shut up even if you have 450million net worth because the HK issue is not your problem. Am I right?

Don't believe Lebron was using that whole freedom of speech has negative consequences line when he was campaigning for Hillary in Ohio.

It's funny, because if he understood that the only difference for someone like him between Hillary and Trump is him paying more taxes, then he would probably support Trump. But people like him are led by others in the sports and entertainment industry.
He’s a textbook moral coward who’s desperate to come across as the exact opposite.

I hope so, but I doubt it. There's a reason a lot of celebrities make these statements and they are the exact same statements others are saying. They are told to do so by people behind the scenes in the industry, who care more about politics than anything else. Especially trying to defeat Trump next year. The media will just ignore this when convenient in the future.

Incorrect.

I'm arguing that every individual has the freedom to give a fuck about what they choose to give a fuck about.

Most of the conservative posters in this thread are vehemently anti BLM and I think that's their right. I think LeBron has that same right to not care about some social movements. If I thought that he cared but was hiding his concern for profit, I would think him spineless. But I've never seen any indication that he cares about China beyond the money it brings him, which is the international standard among businesses.

Where is Kanter's thoughts on this? I know he stated a generic comment about Freedom is not Free but shouldn't he also be held accountable for not speaking against China specifically? Since he's the Lebron equivalent of Wokeness against his own country.

Do you not know what illustrious means?

il·lus·tri·ous
/iˈləstrēəs/

adjective
  1. well known, respected, and admired for past achievements.

No one said you were rich.

You are, however, a hypocrite. You don't support the protests in your own country, but you expect LeBron to support the protests in Hong Kong. You only support causes you care about, but you expect LeBron to support causes he's never expresed interest in. You contribute to the community in apolitical ways, but you expect LeBron to get embroiled in political conflicts.
Do you not get that it’s not about him not supporting the Hong Kong freedom protests but about him actually supporting the CCP? Are you that slow or just trying to save some sort of face?

If the regional rep for BLM misses a protest because they are at their field office working, would you say they do not support the protests?

If they're in the office working for BLM, then they obviously support it.

I didn't ask if you were at the protests. I asked if you supported the protests.

He’s a textbook moral coward who’s desperate to come across as the exact opposite.

I think he's just another dumb A-list athlete who hangs out with progressive celebrities who tell him shit like, don't go to the WH with Trump there. And he just goes along with it. Or tell him what to say on the kneeling and what not.

Then why did you bring up Ali? Or was that a different poster?

Translation:

"I bought overpriced LeBron shoes because he's my idol, so he can do no wrong and I'm not smart enough to see LeTrash James hypocrisy"

The first paragraph you put reminds me of jail. There's a lot of guys who are the most outspoken, the loudest chest beaters you'll ever come across. It's putting on a show, showing others you won't stand for this shit.
But, when the shit pops off those same loud guys are nowhere to he found. Locked away safely in their cell.

It was me, but you're missing the point because at the end of the day this doesn't have to do anything else but Lebron himself. I'm not gonna bother answering your question because that's exactly my point, it is a waste of time. I've been seeing it in this thread, (i.e. what about Trump? What about other companies who support china? What about other blacks? etc etc). This situation is a test of Lebron's character and no one else. Again I'll ask you my question in my previous post:

"Let me ask you this. Oh yeah he’s that too. He is a dummy but he’s also pretty business and brand savvy (although he’s miscued on this little press conference). But he’s also a total hypocrite that comfortably will be that showdog for leftist elites because he likes that feeling but also because it conveniently aligns with his business interests and media following / narrative.

I didn't ask if you were at the protests. I asked if you supported the protests.

Read my post about being in a community center on my days off of work while people play and pretend in the streets and draw a conclusion on whether I support Black people you simple fuck.

I'm pretty sure most people won't say anything. Why would they if it doesn't affect them?
