News The 2020 Likepocalypse

The party is all over! I guess we start all over from scratch from the ground up.

<DCrying>

Axe it completely for a user ranking system... or something along the lines. Separate the good from the bad... and end the "like bait" posts that don't contribute to threads...

And what"s it to you?
It might have been "plastic", but it made us happy!

I know that you prefer we LiKe you instead.....but that won't happen until you De-Mode yourself!

Alright, here's the deal man. Tech has reset Like counters to zero. They did this because the system was getting too clogged up - you may have noticed serious browsing issues the last few months, and this is why.

Please don't e-suicide your accounts because of this. We know this sucks, and that they meant a lot to some of you, but it was either this or have a janky forum. Parent company went with the former.

Tech has also implemented a limiter for standard accounts, where posters should only be able to like a certain number of posts each day. This also applies to profile posts and comments as well.

I cam in just to like your "Likepocalypse" :)

While it's nice to be recognized when you write a nice post, there were too many users that went for likes rather than the topic at hand, and many times disrupting a nice conversation.
If this is an issue, I don't see how minimizing the amount of likes would help. I mean yeah, it would delay the issue, but it would eventually get back to the same point.
Why not get rid of it entirely?

aw man, now what are all these like losers gonna do? You just erased their life work lol

we still need a system to help distinguish the good posters from the casual noob scum out there...

....just letting u know, this wont curtail all the

What are "standard accounts" and how much are they limited? Do the paying customers like myself have unlimited likes now?

Like I said they should have been able to keep the tally and wipe the table as crude as it would have been. Lazy ass shit.

Minor code work that I did in the past and it really wasn't that hard of a concept to grasp or implement.

You should have gone with.... we were hacked. They left a message that said "All your Like belong to us".

"Too many likes make our system unstable"... is SUPER fucking weak. It wasn't the avalanche of spammy ads, no, no, it was the massive resource hog known as the like system.

Either monumentally bad coding, or complete bullshit.

And they want us to upgrade our "membership" with (HA) subscribing or clicking their disruptive ads!!
