Isn’t Weidman objectively the 2nd greatest MW of all time?

Yoel x2
Jacare
Till
Brunson
Hall
Tavares
Natal

is a gureat enough resume. 4 top 5 wins there, not many other MWs can say that. And hes still the only one to decisively beat Yoel @ MW with the first fight. Yoel arguably beat Izzy and Costa, and the rematch with him arguably a draw. Jacare win is one of the best wins ever @ MW too. He was 24-4-1 but many thought he arguably beat Yoel or it was a draw. His fight with Luke was close and somewhat controversial too. Even his fight with Kelvin after was too. Whittaker left no doubts and finished him brutally only guy to finish Jacare besides Saucy
Not saying this to be disrespectful but you have to be young and not seen Hendo and Vitor in their prime.. Hendo and Vitor are head and shoulders above him as of now...Silva, Jacare, Mousasi. Izzy not there yet but certainly could be. Jacare and Romero impressive wins on that list. Others are middle of the road imo.

He only has 2 4 fight stureaks and 1 5 fight stureak (and 2 of those wins against no name bums) and none of them compare.

Luke was a nice win, Bisping was a good win but Hendo was overrated at that point. 2 fight losing streak and only won three of his next seven after. 2 good wins and a win over a has been does not make the best streak of his career.

What do you mean "objectively"? Your argument is based one criterion. Pan out a bit and see the whole picture. Then you'll find your boy unconscious in the bottom right.
Weidman - 7 ranked wins - 4 championship titles as the #1 MW in the world
#1 fighters defeated (1):

Silva
Top 5 fighters defeated (4):
Belfort
Machida
Silva
Munoz
Top 10 fighters defeated (2):
Gastelum
Maia

Rockhold - 5 ranked wins - 1 championship title as the #1 MW in the world
#1 fighters defeated (1):

Weidman
Top 5 fighters defeated (2):
Machida
Jacare
Top 10 fighters defeated (2):
Branch
Bisping

The Chris is objectively the 2nd most accomplished MW in MW history.

Honestly - I might actually say that Bisping is #2
-Top 10 MW for almost a decade
-Most wins at MW
-2 time MW Champ
-Notable wins over Rockhold, Anderson, and Hendo

You can also make the argument for Weidman or Franklin being the #2. Tough to say
He robbed hendo in that fight being in the uk hometown decision.

Yes he was great and he is the 2nd best mw ever. Mma is a brutal sport and one bad injury leads to another one and suddenly you are not the same anymore. Rockhold had to do with it too, Chris never came back from that brutal beating.

He beat prime silva x2 and should be ranked higher than silva in any all time great mw rankings

Nah, Silva and Belfort were 38. Machida was 36. He came up at the right time as the old guard was getting old. Not that he wasn’t a good fighter, but he got further than he would have had he come up a couple years sooner or later. Good timing helped The Chris tremendously.

machida was a shredded monster that was crushing the mw divison until weidman dominated him

Prime Weidman > Prime Anderson Silva (skill wise), man was a legit force pre USADA

Weidman potentially is the 2nd greatest MW of all time, its either him or Mousasi. I would go with Mousasi.

Easy now, he had 2 fights at Middleweight before that so hardly crushing the division. One was over a Muñoz who was declining and one over Mousasi which was a good win and a competitive fight. Machida went on to lose 3 of his next 4 all by stoppage after the Weidman fight.

Both Anderson wins were kinda flukey imo. The first one Anderson got knocked out while showboating. He used to clown on everybody but you do that long enough you're eventually going to get slept.

Second fight Anderson had that freak injury broken leg. Nobody wants to win a fight that way.

Given their respective ages I don't doubt that Weidman was better at that point in their careers but it doesn't really make me think prime Weidman beats prime Anderson.

He'd have a chance because of his wrestling (Chael was winning against Anderson until he lost) but we just don't know.

I don't agree that the first one was a fluke, but even if i do a lot of fights are kind of flukey, that doesn't erase them.

Anderson fought the way he wanted to, the way he does with a lot of fighters, and weidman knocked him out. Think about how some of the best fighters have panicked in the same situation and made mistake, weidman not only kept his cool he caught silva clean doing one of his trademark moves.

I don't think prime weidman beats prime silva either, but it would be a close match up and he might. This isn't about ifs and buts though, it's 2 - 0 and he deserves a lot of credit for those wins.

I notice a lot of people in this thread that say just "no" or post a dumb gif without actually listing who THEY think is the 2nd greatest MW. Gee I wonder why they wouldn't try to rationalize or defend their position...

So you're saying that Silva could have lost at any moment in all these fights he clowned in but was just lucky?
