Political Betting Thread

I asked for a mature, logical, coherent answer and you give me this.

Cute, but it's a valid point to a question of why he's a clown, he literally put's make up and hair dye on and looks like a weird political clown. I am not saying this for humorous reasons, he honestly does look fucking weird, you gotta be blind not to see this.
Apart from that it's the way he communicates, he sounds incredibly immature and insincere. His continuous petty lies(not the made up ones by the media) that further divide people in a turbulent time also.
He is also genuinely funny at times either with something witty, something stupid, or some funny mannerism he does which can also be characteristics of clowns.

dude I get it, you HATE the Orange man. I’m legitimately asking you for a mature, logical, sane, response to Donal Trumps political, economical and social policies he’s implemented, that have led you to feel such anger and contempt to him and his supporters.

I certainly don't hate the man, or his supporters, that that's not a mindset I want to get into in the slightest, at the very least it would be bad for betting politics and at the worst completely poisoning my brain with some retarded emotional ideology, anger is not a useful feeling. I think you are making a common mistake (not an attack before you get all antsy again) that ppl on both sides make in that you automatically designate someone to be on the other side when they disagree with you on something. I'm specifically talking about why his character makes him a clown, I don't think his economic and social policies have much to do with that compared to his personal characteristics which is precisely what lost him the election and is now making him look like a clown to many ppl in his own party as well as the rest of the political spectrum.

You haven’t actually said anything about his character. You attacked his looks for dying his hair and using spray tans. Can you be any more vapid?

I stopped reading after you said Obama didn't get us into any new wars. That's the funniest shit I've ever heard. Obama killed a 16 year old American citizen via drone strike. https://theintercept.com/2017/01/30...emen-trump-just-killed-his-8-year-old-sister/ {<jordan}

Obama is responsible destabilizing Lybia, (he killed Gadaffi, the leader of a country, how you claim that isn't a war type maneuver requires mental gymnastics that only the mentally challenged possess) as well as initiating that largest drone strike campaign in US history. But sure, Obama didn't start any "wars". Obama also killed a 16 year old US CITIZEN while he was visiting family in the ME.

Obama also locked kids in cages at the Mexican border. Trump uses the same cages. <bball2>

Probably should've read one sentence further where I pointed out how Trump literally ramped up the drone strike campaigns, all while decreasing transparency about their outcomes. Trump's drone wars makes Obama's look like a food fight. Also I like how Obama was criticized contemporaneously by right-wing warhawks for not sending troops to Libya, but instead purposefully leaving it as a NATO mission we'd assist with, and now it's somehow him doing a war. Btw it was literally this year that Trump publicly assassinated the top military general of an enemy nation, but you're claiming that not as an act of war with no mental gymnastics, surely.

Obama did lock kids in cages. Didn't like that either, and I have no issue criticizing Obama's faults because I'm not a cult member of the candidates I vote for. But the systematic, zero-tolerance family separation policies were instituted under Trump.

^Its all style over substance stuff, its shallow and vapid.

Plenty to criticise and plenty to praise, but ultimately trump delivered prosperity and increased peace in the world.

The real clowns are the ones who did or will do the opposite. Enter Kakala and her klown who will do what they always do and beclown everyone who voted for them except for upper class liberals.

as a supporter can always be proud of trump's record. There are valid criricisms of course.

LMAO. Trump locked down travel to and from China on January 27. Two days later you had Nancy Pelosi going to China town in San Fran, telling the COUNTRY, on LIVE TV, Trump was a racist for closing the borders to China and that people should to eat Chinese food lol. And you have the audacity to claim Trump had a horrendous initial response to the Chinese Corona virus. {<jordan}

HE LITERALLY SHUT THE BORDERS TO CHINA AND PELOSI CALLS HIM A RACIST AND ENCOURAGES PEOPLE TO GO OUT AND MINGLE WITH EVERYONE, ESPECIALLY CHINESE FOREIGN NATIONALS.

My god. The autism is strong in this thread.

Very interesting that you're limiting your comparison of their behavior to a few weeks, when hardly anything was known about the virus, while ignoring the 7-8 months of behavior following that as we learned more about the virus. Very interesting.

Trump did some really good shit while he was in office. If he held himself with more respect towards people who disagree with him and knew how to bridge the aisle, he would have gone down in history as one of the most accomplished presidents of our lifetimes.

Unfortunately, beyond those who really either loved his rhetoric or really hate democrats, Trump lost a percentage of his base just by being a bully.

It’s not a political argument but my Trump supporting dad didn’t vote this year because Trump made fun of Biden’s son (or at least that’s the way my dad took it) and it was enough for him to not be able to support him.

I personally think it’s always been in our country’s best interest to open dialogue to our longtime foes and I appreciated Trump trying to do that.

My 401k went through the roof as well as my portfolio and bitcoin.

Trump didn’t start any wars nor did he come close to starting a war. He’s been strong with NK and Iran but never escalated matters beyond the pale.

The (very real) problem is he’s a huge asshole. If he was a gentleman, he would have won in a landslide. Instead, he forced Americans to choose sides. He was a divider.

I’d say he will be back but why run for office when you can de-legitimize the current media and start a Trump TV station with The Rudy Giuliani Hour and the Steve Bannon Show?

At the end of the day Trump is a salesman. Some people bought it, some people didn’t. Those who bought it are fired up, those who didn’t think those who bought it are morons.

It’s sad really that one man could cause such disruption when he could have done so much for this country that people on both sides of the aisle would appreciate

Lol at @Crimp_Keeper asking for a "mature, logical, and non-emotional response". Look at your posts in here. You are probably the most emotional and name calling one in this entire thread. You are literally a caricature of why myself and many of the other original betting thread members do not post or lurk as much anymore. You display almost all of the classic bad traits of a bettor and forum poster.

Yeah, because the rhetoric surrounding it was stupid at the time and Trump did nothing to quell that. Most Chinese-Americans weren't traveling around China and didn't have the virus in their dna. I have a friend who runs a Chinese restaurant who lost business that month because people thought they'd catch covid, despite him never even having been to China. Pelosi's actions were just to counter the unnecessary hostility toward them.

The travel ban wasn't even a real travel ban. Americans were allowed to travel back and forth, and thousands did. Sure it wasn't a bad step, but it's absolutely laughable that Trump constantly cites this as his bold action against covid. Because it was basically the only thing he did when a shitload more needed to be done. Even on the subject of travel bans, most of the initial outbreak around where I am started from families vacationing in Italy, which Trump waited far too long to restrict travel from despite their cases exploding at that time. If that's the argument in favor of Trump's covid response I don't know what else to say

I got to disagree about his divisiveness.

Do you remember the people who reached across to the democrats and tried to work with them? Yeah, neither do i.

What has bernie got for being a nice guy? 3 houses, but nothing of his vision for the usa.

They were never going to work with him on any level. If they wont work with bernie, they wont work with anyone except the usual crooks. Bernie is the nicest guy in us politics, but all he got was a pie in the face. What did yang get? Nothing.

You cant lie about a guy constantly and accuse him of colluding with russia, being a nazi and impeach him for nosing around your dirty dealings in ukraine and then castigate him for not working with them. There is no working with them, there is only win or get nothing.

The animosity in the media and establishments of both political parties were off the charts when it looked like he might win and continued unabated for 4 years. These guys think they own the wh, not the american people.

His policies were anything but divisive. Cut regs, strengthen border and military, renegotiate trade deals, cut taxes, revive manufscturing and bring real jobs back, pull out of wars, be tough with countries that were hostile to usa but always leave door open to talk. He got alot done.

You can note the last one. Trump wont put up with the usual dc shit, but if they had wanted anything real, beyond their usual games, it was always possible, but democrats made that choice for him.

Yeah, his personality was abrasive, and you can say that it is how he is, but it was also the kind of personality necessary to get anything done at all. You got to be a killer. You got to be bigger than the guys opposing you, thats what it takes to do anything resembling what is good for ordinary americans.

Dont blame the player, blame the game. He will be back in 2024. He is on a mission. You can not like his style or disagree with his vision, but you cant impute his motivations.

You know how bernie could have got m4a? Simple, tell dnc give it or i will tell my supporters to vote for trump. He could have said same to trump, get m4a and you get my voters. But he is not a badass, he fell into line like a good little boy, prattling on about the hocus pocus of trump being a 'racist'. Its just sad, you dont work with these guts, they are scum, you pull it out of them kicking and screaming, and many think you are an asshole, but thats what it takes.

I don't disagree. The mainstream media is just as much to blame as Trump but the "presidential" thing to do would be to ignore the haters, not fuel them. Democrats didn't give Trump a chance from the beginning and that really does suck. I think Trump was a fine president policy wise. I was pleased with the vast majority of things he did though I disagreed with a couple. I think my main point is that Trump could have behaved more like an adult.

I loved Obama and I can say that Trump did far more than he did in his four years than Obama did in 8 years. Though his handling of CoVID left a ton to be desired, really any president who didn't impose an immediate marshal law would have had the same results. Its the United States, a giant country full of big cities where people where people travel constantly. No president in the world would have been able to contain it. Downplaying the virus at the beginning wasn't the smartest move but let's be honest: who actually thought covid was a big deal at the beginning? Outside of scientists, the average person certainly didn't.

My point stands though and I'll reiterate it. Trump is a dick. I am reminded of a great quote from a patriotic film:

"See, there are three kinds of people: dicks, pussies and assholes. Pussies think everyone can get along and dicks just want to fuck all the time without thinking it through. But then you got your assholes. And all the assholes want is to shit all over everything. So pussies may get mad at dicks once in a while because, pussies get fucked by dicks. But dicks also fuck assholes! And if they didn't fuck the assholes, you know what you'd get? You'd get your dick and your pussy all covered in shit!"

No president in the world would have been able to contain it.

There's a bunch of world leaders who either successfully slowed the spread or provided continuous assistance to their citizens during lockdowns (often both). Those leaders saw big boosts in their approval and even historic re-election margins like in New Zealand. Trump fucked up, the numbers reflect that, and his election failure reflects that. You can say no one could've predicted how bad it's gotten (though according to Woodward, Trump knew how bad it was) but even well into the pandemic he was still downplaying it and saying we need to open up. Hell, mere weeks before the recent massive spikes he was telling everyone we're turning a corner with no basis for that.

Covid was an opportunity for Trump to show real leadership. He never really had to deal with any major crises prior to that. He dropped the ball and made enough people see he's not fit to be president. Someone more competent, even Hillary as much as I hate her, would've handled this much better and probably would've easily slid into a 2nd term.

The US is comprised of massive cities with mass transportation as well as about 6000 flights a day throughout the country.

One cannot compare the US to New Zealand for chrissakes.

Insofar as aid to its people, I couldn’t agree with you more. People have needed help, they need it now, and they will for years to come.

There is no leader on the planet that could have contained the spread of CoVID without suspending travel anywhere and having a country wide stay at home order.

I never said Trump handled CoVID well, I said that no one would have handled it well. He certainly didn’t do himself any favors by completely ignoring it initially, then calling it the China Virus, then considering coming out of the hospital in a Superman t-shirt, and now spending his time complaining about an election rather than focus on his presidency.

That said, he did a lot for our country and my point throughout these last few posts was that he would be more widely recognized for his accomplishments if he wasn’t such a complete and total fucking asshole

Yeah I get your points and agree with half of it but I think the supposed accomplishments are overstated, and there's extremely valid points of criticism beside his personality.

Still strongly disagree that "no one would have handled it well". Yeah we have a lot of big cities. But even the cases per million are topped with rural states that didn't see mask mandates, stay-at-home orders, etc. We're not the only country with dense cities and lots of travel, and we basically do the worst. There was no national leadership on how to slow the spread or deal with those affected by closures. If he actually did help lead us through this, he could've become beloved in spite of all his other flaws. But he didn't, and turned what could've been a unifying issue in an election year into a divisive one. No one would've locked the virus out of our country, but virtually any competent politician could have done a better job than him and would've won another term.

Lol. Loved that movie.

Buy the rumour, sell the news is the play here I hope.

Shorting xrp was not as easy a trade as i thought as btc and crypto went thru a mini bull run. I am glad i stuck with it though, its paying off nicely now.

The sec declaring they will sue ripple helped bigly.
