Trump did some really good shit while he was in office. If he held himself with more respect towards people who disagree with him and knew how to bridge the aisle, he would have gone down in history as one of the most accomplished presidents of our lifetimes.
Unfortunately, beyond those who really either loved his rhetoric or really hate democrats, Trump lost a percentage of his base just by being a bully.
It’s not a political argument but my Trump supporting dad didn’t vote this year because Trump made fun of Biden’s son (or at least that’s the way my dad took it) and it was enough for him to not be able to support him.
I personally think it’s always been in our country’s best interest to open dialogue to our longtime foes and I appreciated Trump trying to do that.
My 401k went through the roof as well as my portfolio and bitcoin.
Trump didn’t start any wars nor did he come close to starting a war. He’s been strong with NK and Iran but never escalated matters beyond the pale.
The (very real) problem is he’s a huge asshole. If he was a gentleman, he would have won in a landslide. Instead, he forced Americans to choose sides. He was a divider.
I’d say he will be back but why run for office when you can de-legitimize the current media and start a Trump TV station with The Rudy Giuliani Hour and the Steve Bannon Show?
At the end of the day Trump is a salesman. Some people bought it, some people didn’t. Those who bought it are fired up, those who didn’t think those who bought it are morons.
It’s sad really that one man could cause such disruption when he could have done so much for this country that people on both sides of the aisle would appreciate
I got to disagree about his divisiveness.
Do you remember the people who reached across to the democrats and tried to work with them? Yeah, neither do i.
What has bernie got for being a nice guy? 3 houses, but nothing of his vision for the usa.
They were never going to work with him on any level. If they wont work with bernie, they wont work with anyone except the usual crooks. Bernie is the nicest guy in us politics, but all he got was a pie in the face. What did yang get? Nothing.
You cant lie about a guy constantly and accuse him of colluding with russia, being a nazi and impeach him for nosing around your dirty dealings in ukraine and then castigate him for not working with them. There is no working with them, there is only win or get nothing.
The animosity in the media and establishments of both political parties were off the charts when it looked like he might win and continued unabated for 4 years. These guys think they own the wh, not the american people.
His policies were anything but divisive. Cut regs, strengthen border and military, renegotiate trade deals, cut taxes, revive manufscturing and bring real jobs back, pull out of wars, be tough with countries that were hostile to usa but always leave door open to talk. He got alot done.
You can note the last one. Trump wont put up with the usual dc shit, but if they had wanted anything real, beyond their usual games, it was always possible, but democrats made that choice for him.
Yeah, his personality was abrasive, and you can say that it is how he is, but it was also the kind of personality necessary to get anything done at all. You got to be a killer. You got to be bigger than the guys opposing you, thats what it takes to do anything resembling what is good for ordinary americans.
Dont blame the player, blame the game. He will be back in 2024. He is on a mission. You can not like his style or disagree with his vision, but you cant impute his motivations.
You know how bernie could have got m4a? Simple, tell dnc give it or i will tell my supporters to vote for trump. He could have said same to trump, get m4a and you get my voters. But he is not a badass, he fell into line like a good little boy, prattling on about the hocus pocus of trump being a 'racist'. Its just sad, you dont work with these guts, they are scum, you pull it out of them kicking and screaming, and many think you are an asshole, but thats what it takes.
