People watching popular movies pretending to have never seen it and get paid

There's been this trend on Youtube where people make channels and they do nothing but watch popular movies and pretending to have never seen it before. They open up Patreon accounts and people "subscribe" to watch the entire video unedited and you have to pay monthly. The more content you want to see, the more you have to pay. And they all have the same stupid look on their Youtube video screenshot where they act surprised watching the movie.

Others also do this with music. The most popular ones are hip hop listeners listening to bands like Metallica for the first time.

They all got this same look on their face

These people making good money, those reaction videos are popular for some reason you can make like 50 to 70 thousand a year off adsense which is a decent side hustle if you get enough views and put several ads on the vids

This dude is the worst out all them. He pretends that he understand what Wu-Tang was talking about when he don't even have the knowage to even understand the vocab.

This is that liberal elite hipster dude, very annoying for real.

It's how Tornado chasers act like they never seen a tornado before.

He is a texas drug addict though

I just think it's insane, some of the "content" that people watch these days. I wonder if sociologists are studying this bizarre phenomenon. Future historians (if they exist) will have plenty to say about it I'm sure. People watch other people eat, watch them watch a movie or listen to a song, people PAY to watch other people play videogames for Christ's sake. Little kids watch videos of other kids unboxing toys! I think that somehow staring at screens for so long has made our species more retarded and this is just another manifestation of that.

I despise those videos. I don’t know how they’re even a thing.

.... Youtube.. It looks like a very smart business move with zero effort.

Doesn't take much to get an audience. I recently got into wood working and saw this thumb nail for a table build, I never clicked so fast in my life....

Turns out this young buck let's his shapely wife do some of the videos with him, which I think is fucking genius. I've never seen so many Fudds give this poor guy shit for using his wife to grow his audience. He even acknowledges it and says he appreciates the comments on how nice his wife looks. Name me a better way to get traffic to your site than sticking a chick with a beautiful ass in yoga pants in the thumb nail picture?

I'd certainly click there before say a video with this as the picture...

90% of that shit, I skip. But there are some reaction videos that are funny, depending on what it is. I can usually sniff out bad actors and I just turn it off. But a younger generation person reacting to Terminator 2 for the first time, or like a real life lawyer breaking down the realism in My Cousin Vinny are things I find entertaining. There's some good ones out there if you can sift through the trash.

I just posted my reaction video to The Star Spangled Banner. Thanks for recommending guys! Please smash the like button and leave a comment or recommend another song I've never heard. Or better yet, subscribe so you don't miss my next video: The Alphabet Song!
do you have a patreon I can subscribe to?

Lucifer ? I've literally never heard of that. That's supposed to be popular ?

Most “reaction” channels are one notch above the staged prank channels.

Trash content satisfies trash audience which makes up 95% of the audience on Youtube.. It looks like a very smart business move with zero effort.
It is where the money is. Smart business = money with little effort

It probably started out genuine, but like all things on the internet, people go into everything. I believed it when a hip hop guy started trying and reacting to other genres music like Megadeath. But then they start pretending they’ve never hear “In the air Tonight” lol Yeah, you’ve never heard a song that still not only gets regular radio airtime, it’s in movie, shows, and gets blasted in the grocery store.
I'm 31 and never heard Africa by Toto till a few years ago. Its possible.

If someone makes a thread on sherdog about watching some popular movie the first time, it also gets a lot of posts.

People are curious about what other people think about things they like.

Just another form of entertainment.

I could legit do this with movies or shows made in the last 10-15 years. Ive watched very few movies in that time, and the last series I watched was The Sopranos.

There are many popular movies that I haven't watched. There is a lot of what is called music that I've only heard from people blasting it in their vehicles. I doubted the reaction videos as I was aware of music that was popular from before my birth. I suppose it is possible that people in their thirties haven't heard some of the music from the 60s and 70s that I am very familiar with. Some of the music is used in movies and television shows. They might have heard it and didn't know the name of the song or artist. Some of the reactors admit to having heard a song before somewhere.

People who have grown up with parents into one kind of music might not have heard other music. Radio stations seem to be specialized these days and many never listen to a radio station. I seldom listen to radio and if I do, it's always oldies stations so I seldom hear new music. It makes me think it might be possible that there are people who might not have heard some of the old music but there have to be some that are faking it.

I actually saw that video and I was like "really??? who hasn't heard of this fuckin' song???" but then again if they're young or even early 20's they actually might not have heard it. especially if all they do is listen to hip[/hop and R&B, rap stations content. it's not completely farfetched.

I mean I know 30 year olds that have never watched popular movies like "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" or the Goonies... I would reference famous quotes from the movie and they'd be like "what's that from"... I feel old...
