Boxing Discussion VIII

Paul's boxing ability is hard to gauge as he looked good his last fight but Askren said it best when he said it's easy to look amazing when you are fighting people who can't fight.
Well said but doesn't that sum up the "undefeated" part of Askren's mma career too? I don't know anything about Paul but I doubt hip surgery has made Ben's striking any better. I'm leaning the Paul kid at the moment, meme or not it is hard to find a worse striker than Askren. Only way I see Ben winning this is by forcing alot of clinch work and dirty boxing. The guy is way too hittable,

This Tszyu fight isn't even 12 rounds and they're giving me +350 via decision live near the half-way point. I'll take that.

Hogan was done after round 3. Body shots clearly wore him down quickly and once Tim realised he could walk through anything coming his way, it was done.

Tim via Decision = loss

£500 Parker -163 to win £307.69

I like these odds, Parker will outbox Chisora with ease and has an iron chin. I will probably bet an additional £100 on the decision once odds come out

I think the odds are about right for Parker-Chisora. Parker is more skilled but he can be too passive. If Chisora shows up in shape and motivated he will be a handful, would wait for the fight week and weigh in. The Chisora who fought Kabayel loses wide, the Chisora who fought Whyte twice will make it competitive and don't be surprised if the judges in the UK get him over the line, he was given 5 rounds versus Usyk on 2 cards. Fight goes the distance might be the play.

I put £10 on Jamel Herring to beat Frampton on points this weekend at 9/4. I think Carl's best days are long gone and he's fighting above his best weight. Herring's height and reach should keep him at bay.

I am a bit nervous though; He's never been in there with someone on Carl's level and a lot older than I expected when I did my research.

Think Tyrone McKenna makes it closer than odds indicate. Anyone else agree/disagree/have thoughts? On the fence to actually bet it

herring lands a knockdown in the 5th round and has only lost 1 round so far, but he has a bad cut on his eye unfortunately.

I don't think Jake can KO Askren, hence if I played him it'd be via decision at +850 which is an absurd line to me. If he actually cardio deaths after a few rounds then I'll have Askren rounds 5-6 and 7-8 group KO props. I have a feeling Askren's style isn't conducive to winning on the cards, nor do I trust those f'n boxing judges to give it to Askren to begin with.

I agree, I don't believe at all that Jake can't win a decision. Definitely a lot of value in that line. I'm sure Jake should be fairly composed, if he doesn't gas himself out a decision win is very probable. I don't think the ref is going to let Ben turn this into a clinch fest like a lot of people expect.

Lucas Browne is 2.63 to KO Gallen

Quite a few in here will remember Hunt rocking him in the 2nd and not following up. You'd also have to assume Browne is less washed than Hunt

That said, Browne has had some 'questionable' fights of late, namely the Dave Allen fight.

He absolutely 'should' smoke Gallen and if he has a shred of self-respect, he will. The question for gamblers now is, does he?

Lucas Browne is extremely washed, he was lucky to get the decision against Kamil Sokolowski. Not a fight I would be looking to bet but I would wait to see what Browne looks like at the weigh-in and if he looks like he's on any special supplements.

Pre fight Tarimo via decision was +110 and then start of round 3 was +320, maybe because of a cut on his opponent... but this Tarimo only has 5 ko wins in his record out of like 25 wins or w/e so rolling the dice on that for sure.
