Regarding that fantasy match up: That should actually happen in MMA. There is really no reason why it shouldn't be MMA rules. Francis isn't a takedown machine and the fight would be still a striking affair most likely.

Ngannou's takedowns and grappling is still hundreds of times better than Fury's, and Ngannou is a fairly smart guy. Of course he's going to take Fury down and ground and pound or submit him. Only a complete idiot wouldn't take advantage such a huge hole in Fury's MMA game.

In boxing, Fury with a KO in less than four rounds (Ngannou would gas). In MMA, Ngannou by submission in one.

In boxing Fury takes the piss for 5-6 rounds until Ngannou starts to slow. He either wins by late stoppage or just wins every round on the scorecards.

MMA fight depends on Ngannous approach. Its a much more volatile and unpredictable environment.

In a real fight they both bring weapons and friends, because neither of them is an idiot. If humans still fought for real unarmed we'd still be tiger and bear food. Seriously, humans have used weapons and numbers for real fighting for two hundred thousand years, and both Ngannou and Fury know how limited unarmed fighting is compared to the real thing.

So the question on who wins in a real fight becomes: which of the two can get their hands on better weapons, and knows how to use them. Has either done any military service?

In boxing, Ngannou gases by four rounds and is easily taken out. In MMA Ngannou takes Fury to the ground right away and submits him. There simply isn't any current combat rule set that makes it competitive one way or another.
