I don’t think Jiri can beat Jan at this point for a very valid reason...

As we all know, the fight at this high level is more of a mental edge than a physical one because it’s no secret these 2 warriors arrived to where they are now because they’ve already mastered the art of MMA . The difference, however, between a champ and a drive by fighter is the mental edge and if he or she had reached peak level of knowing how to react when the tough gets going and overcome obstacles.
Jan is not the most skilled champ we’ve had, but from his latest fights, it’s obvious this warrior is extremely confident and comfortable with one’s self and it showed against Reyes and Izzy. He didn’t crumble to the hype(Reyes arguably beat Jon and Izzy looked unbeatable), quiet the opposite, he enforced his fight game and defeated both prospects convincingly.

In conclusion, Jiri although looking amazing like a character from a video game, I don’t think he has the mental edge that Jan has, not just yet. So bottom line, Jan will be resilient and extremely durable and eventually either KO Jiri or decision him. Do agree to disagree or what?

Stopped reading at Jan isn't a skilled champion. Hes just as well rounded as Volkanovski and Yan. Hes also coming off a win against the best kickboxer in MMA atm. Out landing him in some rounds on the feet.

I will not tolorate Jan slander.

He didn't say Jan isn't a skilled champion he said he's not the MOST skilled, and it's true.

Before him there was Jones, DC. Tough shoes to fill.

Even before them there was prime Shogun, Machida, Evans, Jackson. LHW is stacked in the All Time Greats rankings.

Jiri is 10 years younger than Jan. It's not only about skills, it's also about your physical prime.

Yeah this is a weird assessment of Jan that most are running with which is weird. People overlook his skills and that's why him winning surprises people. It's just like when people were over looking Khabib's striking and couldn't see his skills for what they were. Same thing is happening with Jan's skillset.

would definitely put jan far above machida, evans and rampage if we're talking pure skill

I think Jiri's strategy of chin up/ hands down will backfire vs. Jan.
edit: and Jan is very skilled; he's just slow or deceptively fast I'm not sure which one.
Don't put too much focus on hands down or hands up. It's just a different fighting style. That isn't the deciding factor for wins or losses. Boxing has the highest level when it comes to punches and they don't keep their hands up. This hands always has to be up approach is just a basic understanding of striking. It doesn't always have to be up.

Jiri has that strategy because his confidence. He can walk through your shit and you can’t walk through his.

people trying to snuff this hype out but NO ONE has came in and just blown out Oedzmur and Reyes like that. He had a fatality finish last night lol

I do wonder what goes through TS head when he’s gauging the mental toughness of a fighter? You know the dudes like a Samurai right?

Jan's an old man at 38 years old. He's got old man strength and a solid chin so his fighting style is more like a tank. Jiri is definitely fast enough to stay on the outside and pick his angles. He'd take more risks than Adesanya and it might pay off.

Btw Jan smashes Jiri brutally. Jan is too refined, level headed and experienced in there to lose to him.
Refined and technically sound and more rsik adverse. Question is does that trump the degree of reckless abandon than Jiri brings to the table. At this point I say probably yes.

Jan has been rocked and went into turtle up mode before

Well, I think Jan is pretty skilled, and I think Jiri looks pretty mentally strong, so I think the difference would be whoever brings better tools and executes better.

I could see Jiri's whirling dervish approach work again. I could also see him running right into a counter shot, like he did over and over again against Reyes, and find out that Jan hits maybe a little bit too hard for that to be an acceptable trade.

It would be an interesting fight, for sure.
