The OT suggestion would be awful and I definitely would not participate in that. I don't feel like getting called an F-bomb in every other post and it does absolutely nothing for me whatsoever to read that garbage. The place is dead for a reason.

Yeah, moderation discussion is a lot slower than the lounge threads. It has already been covered that the OT idea was never going to be popular. The Saloon thread happened before hand anyway.

Well maybe nice is the wrong word but I certainly think that people who are kind are better than people who are cruel. Now, to be clear I think other people are saying Trotsky was cruel to them and I accept that. But I don't agree that it's silly to judge people based on how they treat you.

I get that and read your threads. They're informative and usually have some entertainment value as well. I'm a better person for having read your contributions and I think that's high praise.

It is. You know how I said I don't intend to come off as "elitist" the other night? I don't, but I definitely feel the topics I care about are leaps and bounds more relevant than the vast majority of subject matter on here and in theory, should be bipartisan "issues". The industrial tech thread has actually had considerable legs since I started it at the beginning of the year thanks largely to @bobgeese, @ElKarlo and @superking, none of whom are leftists.

I don't think that's actually true, in the History of the Third Reich it spoke of his cruelty as a sort of general way he carried himself with anyone. I take your point though, maybe I should say someone being kind is usually a good starter but it's up to you to find out if they are that way generally or just to you.

Reminds me of a long-time buddy who'd do graphic design when I needed help. He lived a ways away and one time the wife (gf and the time) and I head to his place to pick stuff up, drink, and spend the night. He gives us his room and takes the couch. We got to be, the wife looks up, and sees the Nazi flag on the ceiling. lol!! She became a little concerned and I'm like don't worry about it. Dude likes the shock value and has a grudge against the world. He's a peach.

Years later when she visited the town where he currently lives she looked him up and had lunch with him and his gf. Had a good time too.
