Its only a matter of time until Mexicans take over the UFC (lighter weight classes). So we all know Mexicans are fantastic fighters with alot of heart, durability and excellent Boxing history. Some of the greatest Fighters of all time are from Mexico. They have dominated in Boxing for decades, especially in lighter weight classes. I think its the Native warrior blood that makes them so tough.

I think Brandon becoming First Mexican Champion is the beginning of a new generation of MMA Mexican fighters in UFC. Within the next 5 years you are going to see a wave of talent come thru from Mexico. All of them inspired by Brandon Moreno. I think there is so much good talent already available right now, that has the Boxing and just need to convert over to learning rest of mma. Progress has been slow because of a lack of good mma gyms in Mexico but UFC has been talking about building 2 PI’s in Mexico. That will speed things up.

Dana loves Mexican fighters and has wanted a champion from Mexico for the Longest time. Look how happy Dana is here lol, he wants Mexican fans because how strongly they support there fighters and actually buy ppvs. Mexican in states are a key reason Boxing ppv market has survived.

TLDR: Mexicans are gonna run 125-155 lbs weight classes in the future

Well he had Mexican-light champ in Cain.

I think there will absolutely be a lot of talent coming from Mexico, but there is also no great grappling base in Mexican combat sports as far as I know (outside of lucha libre if that counts) which could slow the influx. Places like Russia have had great recent success in MMA due to the large amount of sambo, wrestling and judo practiced over there.

They will benefit from being next to states which have a ton grappling talent/coaches. Alot of fighters can come over and train here (some Mexicans starting to) UFC actually had a program where they sponsored Mexican fighters to go train at Jacksons (most notably Yair) But UFC realizes they need to build actual mma gyms over there. Hence why they want to PI’s over there. No other country is is getting 2 PIs that I know of. The Goof knows the mma talent is there just need to kickstart it

Waiting for some right wing racist asshole to comment, "Build a wall."

Canelo said in a recent interview that Mexico gives ZERO support to Olympic boxing...so yeah lots of untapped potentialin boxing, even more in MMA.

Basically there is so much untapped talent in Mexico....Most mexicans never even box, they just work.....imagine if the government actually gave a shit.

So yeah lots of untapped potential there.

Brian Ortega is carrying them Olmec genes, although he may have European phenotype because of skin color etc(This is why you don't mexican genetics simply by looks).......regardless of how he looks, it seems like he has atleast 50% olmec genetics(his dad might be mestizo or close to full indigenous)...

Im sure his mom is also a mestiza(looks like a typical Mestiza mexican lady to me).

Mexicans do well because they tend to weigh less, you find a bunch of European or African dudes from 185 and up. That’s my guess.

145-155 gets a nice slice of international competiton.
