Military Roll Call! Veterans, GTFIH!

Lol new policy, if you’re unvaccinated in the military
(Maybe everywhere?) you now must wear a mask even outside at ft Bragg.

It’s summer in the south..

The DOD cannot force vaccinations without presidential emergency orders. So they’re pressuring service members with a bunch of bullshit policies. Which are obviously set to “encourage” service members to get the vaccine.
My base has the same go1 "IAW DOD policy" But it also says you can remove it outdoors if you have 6 feet separation or are actively doing pt. Which basically contradicts everything.

But yeah its all lame. I got the jansen 1 shot just so i could travel on leave. Had no side effects at all.

As soon as the vaccines are fully approved it’s gonna be mandatory just like a bunch of other vaccines. Bite the bullet now I guess.

The FDA has not yet approved any of the 3 vaccines.
Remember the dreaded anthrax vaccine we all had to take back in 2002? Yeah, some folks 'supposedly' got real messed up with some of the side effects. Presidential emergency orders should be easy for Biden, or whomever is running the White House. Biden will sign anything that is put in front of him. Also, I know you can't criticize him because you are still in, but our General Mark Milley, Joint Chiefs of Staff, has turned out to be one crazy SOB - and to think he is Special Forces, Ranger, and Scuba qualified in the U.S. Army. He was ok under Trump, but somehow has gone nuts under Biden. It was the U.S. Air Force's turn at the chair, but Trump decided to keep it U.S. Army.

Seemingly it’s not that easy to approve such emergency orders. Or I believe he would have already. Considering the negative press and how the military is traditionally used as a large experimental test bed for scientific and social “advances.”

Fortunately my piece of the world is incredibly small and isolated so the regulations are less uncomfortable than annoying when you go to buy gas or some shit.
I’m going to to pass, personally I’ve seen 2 friends get fucked up by vaccine, which doesn’t seem terribly effective anyways. Not saying I’d never do it but just not right now.

Marines aren’t even allowed to get gas in cammies anymore. And they were making guys use leave days to quarantine if they refused the vaccine.

Lmao. And what if the commander doesn't approve the leave form? Are they awol?

They stopped because it became a giant shitstorm on social media and with politicians.

I'm surprised you have taken this view. The pros far outweigh the cons in getting vaccinated. After all the vaccines we have had to take prior to a deployment! I don't think one more is going to make a difference. It is just a matter of time before military personnel are forced to take it. You know the FDA is going to approve it. There is no way they are going to disapprove it. The FDA will follow the White House script. Yeah, all vaccines will affect someone in a negative way, but that is the exception, not the rule. You were forced to take the anthrax vaccine were you not? If you catch the 'delta' variant without being vaccinated, you are done. If you survive, your lungs will be permanently damaged. No more scuba diving. Plus, I believe you are married with kids are you not? This will be a seasonal thing Mike. Like the Flu. Every year there will be a new vaccine for the coronavirus variant. It is here to stay. Where is our medic or pharmacist? @Strychnine, what say you? I know you have been vaccinated.

All of this^

Me and mine are 100% vaccinated. It was a no-brainer. We all had to be vaxxed before we got assigned to Okinawa back in the day. I know that people are worried about the speed at which the vaccine was developed but hear me out.

The common cold is a Coronavirus (although quite mild). When Covid-19 hit, it was an all-hands on deck moment. Countries around the globe were sharing data in near real-time whereas it used to take weeks. We had decades of DNA research in our pocket to help map the genome of Covid. That helped us accomplish that task in two weeks. That's an AMAZING feat.

Plus...

You even had online gamers helping out. This was a team-lift that was global.

We've all been in the shot line in basic and someone would fall out after getting inoculated. No vaccination is without side effects. Period. Now will some people have a rough go? Yes.
But I haven't heard of any 100% verified, concrete proof of anyone actually dying directly because of the vaccine. If there were, certain news media would blast it 24/7.

The vaccine is going to be approved by the FDA 100%. Bank on it. If you choose to wait it out, good luck. I know that most of us here take care of ourselves and continue to P.T. but cases of Delta are hitting people that are unvaccinated and YOUNGER and in better shape.

I don't want to take up the page but if you have any questions, post them up here and I'll try my best to answer or point you in the right direction. I got vaccinated and still wear a mask, because I don't want anyone to get sick and go in the ICU on my account.

I finally got the vaccine (J&J) a few weeks ago. It knocked me on my ass for about 12 hours but I got a free day off from work for it. I probably would've gotten it ASAP if I was still in the military because of all the additional BS. They can fuck off though requiring vaccinated people to still wear masks because I wear glasses a lot and they fog up even if it's just covering my mouth.

From what I’ve read from the FDA and CDC the quality part of vaccine manufacture is the long pole in the tent right now. Making sure the process to make these vaccines is the same every time.

Keeping my opinions to myself on how non-vaxed folks are being treated. That's all I'll say.

I've posted this elsewhere on sherdog, so apologies if you've already heard this from me.

Insurance companies are probably just waiting for the FDA approval of this so they can save money. How? you ask. An unvaccinated long Covid stay in the ICU costs them tens of millions collectively. A vaccinated shorter stay, not so much.

They've probably got lobbyists with a plan to say "The vaccine is FDA approved and if you don't get it, you're taking a greater risk and placing a bigger possible burden on our bottom line." (They won't say THAT of course, but it'll be something along those lines). So to provide better care for the whole, we will not be covering any policyholders for their Covid related expenses if they are unvaccinated."

Remember, we have a for-profit healthcare system here in the U.S. and it's all about the dollars.

Longer Covid stay = more cost to the insurance company and less profit
Shorter Covid stay = less cost and more profit

It's all about the money.

That’s why preventative care is pushed so much.
United healthcare saw record revenue last quarter buy way less profit.
Insurers encourage preventive visits, which help avoid expensive problems like heart disease or cancer. But they might prefer not to see customers go in for non-urgent visits like check-ups, and even pay big bucks to keep them away.
Telehealth: UnitedHealth expanded its telehealth offerings, which are cheaper than IRL appts, to all 50 states during the pandemic. Wearables: UnitedHealth also offers customers free Apple Watches or Fitbits… if they get their steps in.

Sometimes, not spending is good business and can help boost the bottom line. The health insurance biz has a classic “do less” model: health insurers often make less money the more their customers use their services. Ditto for car insurance companies.

This is also pretty interesting:
Pre-pandemic, Moderna was a little-known biotech startup worth $6B — with zero products on the market. In May 2020, Moderna was a $27B biotech working on a Covid vax — still, with zero products. Today, Moderna is a household name worth $123B, and its Covid vaccine has been injected into the arms of 63M Americans.

Happy Birthday to the Coast Guard!

Nothing like a day off in the middle of the week to BBQ, drink some beers and hang out.

i was in the same boat. wearing the masks here in hawaii broke me; i couldnt handle the constant fogging, in addition to the sweat. i then got lasik and its been a big improvement

these vaccines and masks are here to stay. after pushing the get vaccinated and wear your masks narrative, it'll shift to get your booster shot and wear two masks with a face shield

What are you basing it on that it’s not effective? Have you been seeing any breakthrough cases where you work? Also what did you mean fucked up by the vaccine? I’ve seen people get sick for 1-2 days, and when I say sick I mean knocked on their ass but that’s it.

Of the 730ish population I monitor I’ve known quite a few that have long term difficulty breathing problems after having gotten COVID. There is also now a generic 3 month recovery profile that providers can pull up In the system and slap a name on for long haulers. We actually also had a chief in the ICU a few months back. I didn’t take COVID all that seriously at first but having seen quite a few people sucking long after getting over the illness itself has changed my stance on it.

There are a few other weird ones too. I know one guy who still can’t really taste food a year later. We had another Soldier who had it asymptotically and didn’t know it. He was working out lifting weights. A day later his arms were killing him so he went to the ER. He had rhabdo, and also tested positive. Near as they can guess is that the rhabdo happened because his body was compensating for the infection
