BJ Penn ain't done with Khabib yet

I still have BJ as the LW goat. Khabib was phenomenal but his actual resume is kinda weak.

Fun BJ Penn facts...
BJ's only wins in the UFC outside of lightweight are against Hughes.
BJ's heavyweight fights were a loss to Lyoto, where Lyoto was clearly bigger and outweighed BJ (191 for BJ vs 225 for Lyoto) and a win against Renzo Gracie where BJ was the heavier guy (191 for BJ vs 185 for Renzo)

But he fought them bro, he fought them.

Yeah we know this happened. Doesn't change the fact that he's right. He's credentials are much better than Khabib's when it comes to his overall career. I love Khabib but 3 title defences and most of his wins coming outside of the UFC, I don't see how he is the GOAT. BJ accomplished more in the sport and he has some very valid points.

my initial impression of kabib was sloppy fighter in the stand up who cuts more weight than most of the division and tends to use his size and strength more than technique in grappling exchanges and when hes met with a competent grappler whos larger he struggles. over time he proved me wrong. his knowledge of ground fighting is extremely extensive. but im still not so sure he should be in talks for the goat. kabib never shocked me in the same way the goats did.

No Khabib is not a chicken - he fights anyone that was put in front of him.

Khabib honored his mother's wishes and when you have a deep respect for the person who brought you into this world and you have taken into consideration all the money you have already made from your blood sweat and tears.....the decision is easy.

I'm very skeptical of this whole "Oh, his mother wants him to stop fighting". Why? You mean to tell me a kid that was raised by his father from the time he was born to fight then honors his father and mother by no longer fighting because his father died? His father dedicated Khabib's entire existence to fighting, and how how you best honor your parents is by no longer fighting? His mother obviously married his father, and stayed married to his father the entire time knowing that Khabib's entire life was focused on fighting, and the best way to honor his dead father is to stop fighting?

So Khabib's mom during Khabib's entire career did not want Khabib fighting? But allowed Khabib's father to have Khabib focus Khabib's entire life to fighting and even allow Khabib to move to a different country (a country with values completely contradictory to his values) to train to fight now all of a sudden he's such a momma's boy he stops fighting on her wishes? Where was her say during Khabib's entire career? If she didn't like him fighting, she was totally overruled by Khabib's father as Khabib's entire existence was about fighting, now his father dies, he stops fighting because his mom says so? It's obvious his dad wants him to fight. I mean, that was what he made Khabib's life's focus. So, that is how you honor your dad that dedicated your whole life to fighting by no longer fighting and you now listen to your mom?

It's just very contradictory.

Sounds like a cop out like how Rickson stopped fighting because his son died.

If anything, he should honor his father and build a greater legacy by winning multiple belts.

It's like a guy that is a MD, raised by MD parents decides it's best to honor his parents by no longer practicing medicine.

Lol here come the morons talking shit about Khabib being huge, newsflash dummies!! It have been debunked, Khabib is a regular sized LW.

Also that moron Bj Penn fighting bigger guys doesn't mean shit specially since he lost most of those fights, props for beating Hugues and winning the WW belt but at LW Khabib is far better and accomplished than him.

BJ ain't lying. He was a TRUE fighter, he fought because he loved competing and testing himself and was not afraid to take on bigger and stronger men to test his limits, even if God forbid he took a loss. He grew up in a hyper privileged family and was mad rich so he did not have to fight for any reason other than he loved it, but this also hurt him as he had issues with staying motivated.

Khabib fans are delusional and rabid in these parts - there is a reason they are continually voted the worst fans in the sport above Diaz, McGregor and even Rousey fans, so do not expect them to understand what BJ is saying. The reality is Khabib cut from 195 down to 155, missed weight 3 times (actually 4 considering his last fight), risked death, pulled out repeatedly, because he was afraid of not having the strength and power advantage. Against Usman he would not be able to rag doll him so he would never take that fight - instead, he did what Andy did with Jones, Machida and Jacare and became friends with his hardest match up so he had a cop out. Even vs GSP he did not want to fight at 170 and wanted old man GSP to come down to 160.......that is the polar opposite of BJ, who legit fought a young Machida at heavyweight and is at best a modern day featherweight.

BJ may have been his own worst enemy, he did not care about spotless records that simps get hard over, he struggled with addiction, consistency and motivation, but the dude was an absolute savage at his best and was definitely as dominant at 155 as Khabib was in his time. He also did what Khabib will never do: cowboy up, fight a larger man and win a second title. BJ's insane TDD and boxing would have made for a really difficult match up for Khabib too, but don't expect the fan boys to acknowledge any of this without rattling off a laundry list of excuses.
Fuck me , you khabib haters increase his weight every bullshit post..
Khabib will allegedly be a super heavyweight next irriteration. .

If he's not bigger than most, he SUCKS at cutting weight because there is NOBODY on the UFC male roster that has had as many documented weight cutting issues as Khabib.

Khabib had a large core but his overall size was nothing special. He wasn't some gigantic LW. Also Penn was awesome because of his willingness to fight anybody but that alone can't make him all time great. He had a pretty easy strength of schedule at lw and lost a ton of fights in his weight class, as well as above his weight class.

BJ Penn 3 title defense were againsy Kenflo Diego Sanchez and Sherk of these guys Sherk was a former champ and Khabib faced former champ Mcgregor and interim champs Dustin and Gaethje. Gaethje was champ in othet org too. IMO Khabib is the best lightweight UFC ever had and BJ Penn is second best.

hahah a mentally broke bum who get's KO'd by fat dudes on the street , a laughing stock and is desperate to feed off his nostalgic fans talking shit about someone who would ragdoll the shit outta him, motherfucker you lost to Frankie Edgar whose a midget himself multiple times. Once again beating an overrated Hughes with ZERO striking and losing to Machida at HW has NO BEARING ON LW. The Hughes win shows how bad he was instead of showing how good BJ was, can't imagine Khabib losing to some midget from 135 EVER which is the size difference between Hughes and BJ who should have fought at 145, Hughes should be thoroughly embarrassed.

Khabib's too busy with his various businesses including his own MMA promotion, travelling the World, meeting Heads of State, helping his team mates etc... but I guess Penn fought Machida at HW so it's even.... LMAO.

Since Khabib has been saying he is the greatest lightweight of all time and I am number 2 best lightweight many people have been asking me why didn’t Khabib fight Usman for the 170 pound belt or compete for 170 belt like I did many times… in my humble opinion it is because he is not proficient and confident in jiujitsu

I believe the reason behind Khabib not fighting Usman is because he does not know jiujitsu like I did and he is not comfortable fighting off his back against someone who is bigger and stronger than him like I did many many times in my career.
I fought at 170 185 and heavyweight and every fight I had to fight from my back and survive and come back and fight harder if I was to get a victory.

It’s because of my jiujitsu black belt experience and fighting in my weight and absolute division for years that always prepared me for this…Gracie jiujitsu and Brazilian jiu-jitsu alone is not enough to be UFC champion but to choose one system BJJ is still the greatest self defense system in the world especially for the little man to fight the big man.

It was just part of the game…
Khabib says jiujitsu is easy and he is the best grappler ever but he did not fight bigger opponents in higher weight classes because his style is not prepared for this …and that’s what jiujitsu was created for.. for the little man to defend himself from the big man! That is martial arts, that is self defense !!

You don't have to prove yourself in fighting in the higher divisions to be the best. You have to judge by how you dominated that division. Instead of being a semi fighter in the higher divisions. I don't agree with moving up to prove yourself but I respect those who do that.

People that take a risk in the higher division and lose, I just have to respect that person. I did not like IA antics but when he went and tried at LHW I became a bigger fan out of respect for him. He did not have to do that and losing in my rule of thumb won't be counted against him in his career. Most goats have a much higher chance in losing nowadays if they go up. Even Jon Jones will have a problem up there. But if he loses I won't count it against his legacy either.

that gif is really sad. i hope younger fighters learn some lessons from penn. and the thing is thats what was recorded. what other kind of embarrassing shit did penn take part in over the years.
he clearly has brain issues from his life style and partying. I absolutely hated watching him and anderson silva allowing themselves to get cracked flush over and over through out their careers. I always thought well their time is going to come and it will come hard. as it has for the both of them although anderson still seems reasonably stable and functioning. penn did everything he could to tarnish his legacy.

penn has better boxing than kabib and bjj but he would get tapped 10x over by kabib.

BJ is my all time favorite fighter but lets be honest Khabib would destroy any version of BJ Penn

You´re omittin´that Draw vs Fitch, tho... a legit quality performance...

But he fought them bro, he fought them.
In modern MMA, the undersized competitor is not supposed to be that competitive @ OW...
