Ian Garry reacts to his first-round KO win over Jordan Williams at #UFC268 and talks not being happy with his performance, gives advice on how to call him out, feeling like he'll fight Khamzat Chimaev for the title in the future, and much more.

Main Cliffs
  • he thinks only Khamzat and Usman are challenge to him
  • He thinks Khamzat will be champion and he thinks he will fight him in the future.
My opinion
  • He barely beat a nobody
  • He is Irish
  • I think he won't make it to the top 15

was that herpes on his lip or something else?

he is really trying to force the new mcgregor-guy thing

I love these naive kids. In a few years, I'm gonna look at these Conor knockoffs in the same way I look at the knockoffs for the movie Scream. "Oh, yeah. I Know What You Did Last Summer. Remember that one?"

He was getting tagged by a 9-5 fighter till he won. I don't think he's ready to be mentioning himself along side Khamzat..

I wasn't impressed..

If he doesn't learn to keep his hands up while he's moving backwards he will get KO'd before that. He has some big holes in his boxing defense.

Yup. I saw if he is on the come up , Wonderboy would be his biggest hurdle, that would prove if he has the work ethic to improve his striking defense.

this guy is delusional but i do like him and enjoyed his fight.

he looked like a fucking noodle in the clinch and had atrocious defense. Nerves probably had a lot to do with the later because his distance control got better later in the round. we'll see what happens.

I'm not sure if he has it but he's only 23. He was really getting pieced up in there until the other guy launched himself for no reason.

Well it sure may happen one day but based on what is happening right now he is very unlikely to leave that fight as a winner.

He needs a lot of work on his defense. Its good to have big dreams. Hopefully he can improve a lot more.

Those cliffs are pretty disingenuous. The guy spoke for quite a while about being young, needing to develop, wanting to slowball it and not wanting to shoot straight up the rankings.

That said, it's wild that a 7-0 record, with no pre existing combat sports career, gets you into the ufc tbh

I reckon he's a future champ tbh. I know you don't but I guess we'll see eh?

You probably can get out on a ledge and say he is Irish lad, not an opinion. I'm not necessarily saying the kid will be a world beater, but with the right coaching he'll absolutely be a top 10 fixture in a few years, provided of course the UFC doesn't rush him and that ceiling absolutely could have him as a champion.

He looked fine in the clinch too me? However I agree for the first 2 minutes his defence was poor, luckily he has a good chin but you can't let that happen against someone like Burns or Luque nonetheless. He says it was due to nerves for his debut being at MGM and tbf it did just look like he was getting settled because after the first few minutes he started getting flowier and began winning. He's at a great gym so they should fix any holes in is defence.
