I just skim read the first chapter, and it reads like your pretty typical early amateur work. The sort where the author basically lives out their personal fantasies, with the main protagonist being an idealised self, complete with narrative exposition of their personal "philosophy" .

I really don't understand the predatory "alpha" mentality. I'm all in favor of ideals like masculinity, strength, competence, etc. If you strive for and obtain those ideals, is it not vastly more noble to be the shepherd than the wolf?
