Stipe's Inactivity

He is past his prime, and doing nothing to earn a rematch.. He maybe should have retired after DC 3.. Losing so badly to Francis in the rematch damaged his legacy..

Derrick Lewis was on the Helwani show today and said he wants to fight Stipe. Said he wants to fight in February or March. I doubt Stipe will take him up on it though.

Stipe posted training footage from his firefighting job on IG today. I'm not even sure if he's training MMA at the moment. I'd love to see BB and Stipe duke it out, though. Guaranteed someone is going to sleep.

infrequent fighter who held up the belt for way too long. 2 opponents in his last 5 fights. Hopefully he never gets another TS.

If Stipe wants to keep fighting and Jones is serious about going to HW I say have them fight. Makes the most sense for both. Jones gets to have a fight to acclimate to HW and if he passes the test he could have next title shot. Stipe gets a huge name/legacy fight and one in which he won't be facing such big KO power.

I will always remember Stipe as a HW great. He doesn't have much more to do or prove for me as a fan. Would love for him to get the Jones fight if that is what he is angling for...

IIRC He was even doing his volunteer firefighting leading up to the francis fight, like he was doing it in the embedded vlogs.

I suspect Stipe has a similar problem to Jon Jones. UFC doesn't want to pay much for a HW fight right now.

In Stipe's case he is probably conserving himself for one more big swipe at the HW belt and doesn't want to risk fighting someone further down in the ranks to risk it. He hopes to move up when somebody loses in the near future and get his shot.

EDIT* He does deserve next shot since he had the belt before losing to Francis.

After their trilogy DC predicted Stipe would get KO'd by Ngannou if he fights him soon, but could beat Ngannou if he waits a year.

DC pointed out that he KO'd Stipe in their first fight but Stipe's chin was stronger by their 2nd fight because he had more time to recover, hence why DC couldn't KO him after their first fight.

Not volunteer. He's paid, he has part-time gigs at two stations.

He has been training, although I don't know if he has the last couple weeks since he had a vasectomy recently. (Otherwise he might have ended up injuring his wife, he sires some gigundo babies.)

Last heard on the subject was that he was going to Vegas in December to talk about what the UFC wants for a next fight, but with Xmas and Omicron who knows if that came off.

I genuinely cannot tell whether the people who claim Stipe was an inactive champion is just too passive aggressive to say they don't like the guy or they just started watching UFC in the last two years. These people are objecting facts to believe a narrative started by DC to solidify a third fight then picked up by Ngannou to get Stipe to fight as early as possible.

You have a champion currently who will be defending his title ten months after winning it and you are still calling Stipe the inactive champion? Stipe's first title defence came just four months after winning his title from Werdum. I don't know how you think Ngannou's contract dispute or his desire to fight Jones are valid excuses while you dismiss covid shutdown and eye surgery as excuses for Stipe. After the covid lockdown and his final fight against DC, Stipe fought Francis seven months after.

Also, anyone who is astonished by the fact that this upcoming UFC 270 will be the first heavyweight title fight that doesn't feature Stipe or DC, you should blame Lewis for tapping to DC and Ngannou for losing to Stipe. You should also blame Volkov for getting knocked out by Lewis. I don't think the reasoning behind hatred towards DC and Stipe are rational.

Stipe and Rose are the two worst champion level fighters in the sport. they both refuse to fight..
