Media Henry Cejudo on return to MMA: "I'm after the cheddar, bro"

It's safe to say if the ufc didn't offer Henry the Volkanovski fight over a non-contender like KZ he's never getting his wish.
So he's going to have to stay retired.
Could they have though? Guy's not in testing pool and Volkanovski wanted to stay on the March card, nigh on if not actually zero chance of them trying to get an exemption for Cejudo, doubt he was even considered tbh.

I remember most of the talk post fight being about Cruz's comments about keith peterson. I watched the podcast and yeah you could tell John and Josh probably had some counter points to his claims there. But were polite enough to just let it slide.

A gold medal pro like Cejudo will be on point if he were to return. His last fight was in May 2020 although it seems longer than that. It’s not like he’s coming off a 3-4 year layoff. Dillashaw looked as good as ever coming off a 2.5 year layoff.

Damn it does feel like forever already.

Isn't it simply because he wants more money? He still had fights on his contract prior to leaving so the UFC would be obligated to offer him fights if he went back into the testing pool and was actually available to fight. The cheddar's not forthcoming he'll either fight as per his existing contract or he'll stay retired squawking on twitter in an attempt to remain relavent.
Yeah. By quitting, any leverage he may have had went up in smoke. And there's no way they would give him a raise unless they were in a tight spot.

He publicly retired, and no one is clamoring to have him back. Yet he’s begging to come back and acting like he needs something special to get coaxed out of retirement

I really can’t think of a more annoying ex fighter

I like Henry, but his plan back fired on him. I think retirement isn’t the best negotiation strategy. He had some momentum going for him, but he halted his own hype train.

I don’t think the UFC is giving him an immediate title shot at 145lbs. His best chance at making big money is coming back at 135lbs and fighting Petr Yan.

Cejudo Vs. Paul incoming...

Sadly he isn't a draw and he won't defend. Henry is good as dead to Dana White. The only way triple C gets a shot at Volk is if Volk is ready to retire

I actually like Triple C but he needs to either get in the cage or move on.

The dumbest retirement in the history of the sport, what the hell was this clown thinking?

Absolutely no self awareness, no one really cares about Henry, the MMA community would welcome him back and it would be a popular fight, but he's never going to be the star he thinks he should is and accordingly, won't be paid as one. He should have never retired and fought for legacy, the money and popularity may have followed.

Can someone tell this manlet that he isn't a huge draw like he thinks he is. There's a reason why dana didn't give a fuck about his retirement while he's on his knees for khabib.

I’ve never seen a dude retire and then immediately try to keep himself in the news asking for money and big fights. Bizarre move

I like Henry a lot as a fighter but he’s simply wasting his best years sitting around talking shit on social media.

Time is passing him by

I really can't understand the mouthbreather that think Cejudo vs Volk is remotely interresting or competitive

Yeah man why would a super fight between a former Olympian double champ and the most dominant FW out there today be a great fight.

Some of you guys have oatmeal for brains.

So what he’s saying is he’s not coming back am I right?

If he's after the cheddar, and fighting is what makes him the cheddar, then why hasn't he been fighting?

He might have became a decent draw if he didn't retire 2-3 fights into his prime. His popularity was slowly rising and he was climbing the p4p ranks. I'm not sure he would have wanted anything to do with Yan though.
Didnt he quit for his girlfriend? Then she left him?
