News Tim Lane, Xtreme Couture coach found dead at 49

This is really sad.

I'd seen on Twitter that he'd gone missing and friends were concerned. No doubt their worst fears realised.

RIP.

Sad shit.
RIP brother.

It is so much harder than you'd think (not you personally, anyone in general).
From personal experience, the American healthcare system makes you jump through so many hoops. They deny you refill requests for standard anti depressants, letting you suffer from withdrawals effects essentially till you do their dance.
Finding a psychiatrist or a psychologist is nearly impossible
It's basically, say you're going to kill yourself and get admitted to a inpatient facility or go to ER, where you'll wait forever and be given cookie cutter advice and probably just some meds and be sent on your way.
It's fucked.
I swear they bank on suicide as a necessity for society.
I'm going through one of the hardest times in my life and have had almost no help from any doctor worth a shit despite relentlessly trying.
There needs to be more action and less empty words.
I'm glad that mental health is finally being taken seriously, because it doesn't matter how macho, tough or physically strong you are. A fucked up brain and anxiety disorder is one of the scariest things you can go through.
If killing machines who are trained to be some of the toughest people on the planet are coming home from war and killing themselves over PTSD, anxiety and depression, it can destroy anyone's life.
I meet a lot of vets up here that are struggling. Former special forces and some of the toughest dudes you'd ever meet. Exterior made of steal. But we are all human and you can't judge someone dealing with trauma even if you've experienced it yourself. It affects us all differently.

The hard part is when you want to help someone but they are so far in the deep end you worry about your own safety. Sometimes the only one who can talk to them is a brother who was there with them and even that doesn't always get through.

Fucking heartbreaking.
Dudes that give everything for service and then their problems get worse because they feel are basically abandoned on the back end. It's hard enough to help someone who is willing to seek it out but to make it tough for them to find it just compounds the issues they are already facing.

The VA up here is pretty good and they have been improving but there is no excuse for not getting these guys whatever help they need.

And it's not just vets. So many people struggle to find a purpose in this life.

Mental illness is real.
Beneath the surface some people are in need of support.
Avenues for getting this should always be available.
Sadly enough a good healhtcare system does little to prevent suicide from men. Its like in our dna to go off ourselves without getting help. Even here where you can get help for free and it "easy" to find help(I say "easy" because men tend to not seek it), this happens alot more than you would wish for.

RIP. He die young. Mental health is indeed something we should discuss more to bring awareness.

Damn man only 49 years old.

May he rest in peace and my sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

No of course not. But if my son passed away that would be my main reason. But if I ever got paralyzed, which is one of my biggest fears. I think a bottle of hard booze and a way to do it I might. If I didn't have my son, there would be other reasons why, because it would affect him so I wouldn't.

You're loved sir, even if only by one person you'll always have a lifeline.

RIP. Suicide as always sad. A bit off topic, but didn't 1 of the Jiu-Jitsu coaches at X-Treme Couture commit suicide a few years ago? I may be remembering incorrectly & it could have been at a different organization/camp.
