UFC/Pride Light Heavyweight Champions with least-to-most Top 10 ranked wins at Light Heavyweight.

How is Wand not a top 10 win on Hendo’s resume?
See the previous page:
Silva hadn't fought at Light Heavyweight in 14 months so he got removed from the rankings.
Throughout this series of threads, there have been multiple fighters not listed in champions' resumes due to inactivity either in a specific division or in general, and as such were subsequently removed from the rankings.

Lol how can the champion be removed from the rankings? That doesn’t make any sense..

Do you think non-champions who are inactive should be removed from the rankings?
That’s completely different. Silva wasn’t stripped, Hendo beat him for the title.. how could he not be ranked? Either way.. good list, thank you.

No, that's called making an exception, which would've made the methodology for these lists inconsistent, and it's precisely why Silva isn't on Henderson's resume.

If X amount of time is acceptable for a non-champion to get removed from the rankings, then it has to be the same for champions.

That’s 8 for Jones when you score the Gus, santos and alves fights correctly

bye

Interesting that Jan has already made a dent. When all is said and done he’ll rank pretty well amongst some of these guys
Guess things didn't turn out that well for Jan. Two top 10 wins against #7 ranked opponents isn't much of a dent.

These lists are great and very interesting. You get a mix of "new" and "old" breed and wins against opponents you didn't know were ranked (like Liddell beating someone named Paul Jones - who is that???). You also see a bit of inflation - Hendo has some very solid wins (in multiple weight classes) but how on earth could Yuki Kondo been ranked #10 at the time? In 10 years time we may say the same about some of Jones' wins as well, or, we can already today argue that Anthony Smith in the top 10 is a travesty considering how far away he is from "good" top 10 fighters.

Who is Paul Jones? Chuck beat him but I've never heard of him before

lol @ kevin jackson #4

He had 3 fights.

Lol at overeem ever being top 10 at LHW, let alone top 5. He doesnt have a good win at the weight.

Cool list.

The only thing I will say is that, while having top 10 wins is clearly important, it isn't the end-all-be-all.
Sometimes guys will get top 10 wins over guys that are clearly on the downslope, guys that are on losing streaks and are about to exit the top 10 or top 15 all-together.

The list doesn't include the dozens of older LHW fighters that never became champion but do have 3 or more ranked LHW wins.

For example, Keith Jardine has 3 ranked victories. Congrats on being as accomplished as Keith Jardine.

I just knew this would be based on shitty FightMatrix rankings.

By all means, tell everyone what worldwide rankings you would use that date back to the early 90's and could be applied across all divisions.

#4 Sokoudjou

Jesus, the people responsible for that ranking should be ashamed of themselves. Quick KO's of Arona and Lil' nog shouldn't have got him this high.
Lil Nog was 8-1 in PRIDE, against multiple highly regarded opponents, and his only loss was to Shogun in a fight that is considered one the most exciting fights of all time to this day.

Arona was 8-3 in PRIDE, against multiple highly regarded opponents, and was arguably just robbed against the #1 LHW at the time Wanderlei.

Both wins were huge.

Except I don't need to go back to the 90s when Jon Jones, the universal LHW GOAT, has 14 title wins alone (15 if you wanted to throw in DC 2), yet according to this FightMatrix is giving him only 11 top wins.

Take away Chael and Vitor for being MWs sure, but it's just a blatantly bad system when the numbers just so obviously don't add up on basic things.

Congratulations on contradicting yourself in a single post <Lmaoo>.

Your logic: any title/vacant title/interim title win counts as a top ten ranked win, regardless of the opponent.
Also your logic: Sonnen and Belfort don't have to count as top ten ranked wins even though they were both title defenses.
