News Cynthia Calvillo vs. Nina Nunes has been pulled from UFC Fight Night on August 13

I'm annoyed because Nina was a good underdog bet. MUH MONEY

I remembered she's done similar before and looking it up again, in 2015 she withdrew from a fight (after a large weight miss) due to flu.
The opponent on that date: Rose Namajunas.
I wonder how that fight would have gone....

Cynthia did look like shit in her last fight against Andrea Lee iirc. Finished on her stool at the end of the 2nd when her corner called it, lost the last 3 with only a win over Jessica Eye in her last 5. I thought she had good potential earlier in her career and she could come back strong but hasn't seemed to improve at all in a long time. You're right, the odds were decent considering everything.

She seems unfocussed lately like her heart isn't really in doing MMA anymore.

Nina also wasn't great in her last fight (coming back soon after pregnancy) and might have 'lost it' as well but there's more evidence of that for Cynthia (3 fights in a row culminating with quitting on the stool) so worth a shot I thought. 'Prime Nina' was a bad matchup for Calvillo since she has been quite hard to take down in the past, and Calvillo wastes too much time trying to box with her opponents when her path to victory is always getting on top (she's not the greatest wrestler either). Her career might have gone better if she'd been able to focus on building a gameplan around that, instead of trying to put on boxing sparring matches which seems like the direction she went for.

I was expecting Nina to outstrike her soundly on the feet while Calvillo didn't bother to go for TD's and got denied most (or all) of the few she did remember to try for.

Great. 30 minutes of filler to start the card or a later start.
