Television HOUSE OF THE DRAGON (Renewed for Season 2, post #571)

Shaved and given an enema? What for?

And lol at two weeks in the hospital. These days they’re punting the family out in like 12 hours.

3 hours for a recent family member of mine. But then Ontario pairs you with midwives who do the immediate follow up after, outside the hospital.

I suppose the enema was to flush the colon so they don't shit when pushing the baby out. The shaving was to be able to see the vagina. Before women started shaving, the hair could get pretty wild.

Some women could pop out kids without missing a beat like this Monty Python scene.

Yup, not terribly uncommon for a woman to also push out a poop. Such specific muscular control is just not always there when in such pain. And the shaving is more if there is tearing down there, as the hair can cause issues when things start healing.

My good friends wife is a Precipitous Labour person. Her first child was born in less than an hour from first contraction and her next two were both under 2 hours. Her body just ejects the baby in a huge surge. Luckily with the first kid they were near the hospital when the first contraction hit. For the ones after it was recommended they not try to get to the hospital themselves due to high risk of car birth. Instead stay home and call an ambulance at first contraction. Better to deal with it at home then in a car.

Weren't all three of Dany's dragons male? Drogon, Rhaegel and Viserion seem like male names.

The books basically brought up the point that all dragons were assumed male until they popped out an egg. There are some reptiles with few to no external sexual characteristics and one of the few ways to accurately sex them is to take a look into the cloaca.

Wouldn't be hard to imagine someone getting eaten or burnt alive for trying to check out a dragon's cloaca, and after that the Targs are like "fuck it, if it lays an egg later on it's a girl".

Oh sheet. It’s getting good again. Second episode was vintage GoT: the politics, the moral ambiguities, the puffing of chests.

The standoff at Dragonstone was especially good. Very good visuals and the CGI seems on point for this series. Ser Meryn Trant ("Too Old" guy) would have loved to marry that little 12-year-old girl.

Good episode, better than the first. But why the hell did they use the Game of Thrones theme? This isn't a new season, it's a new show. They should have gone with an original piece.
I definitely had mixed feelings about that. I really loved Game of Thrones. For reference, I literally own a bastard sword that I won at GoT trivia.

The last two seasons were a letdown, but I didn't hate them as much as some.

All that said, the iconic theme song and clockwork title sequence makes me happy and nostalgic, but I agree that it was a weird choice to use the classic Game of Thrones theme.

She would have been too old for him

I didnt mind them using the old theme.

I had a few misgivings, even though I overall liked the episode. How could they not think that Daemon would simply use his dragon and not have one of their own?

Some of the pacing was a bit off. Things just happened too fast in the final quarter. Still,my thoughts are so fresh.

I def enjoyed it and wonder what happens next.

theyre trying to do the whole "make a theme song stick" thing. Like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, etc..

That Crabfeeder guy at the end was creepy AF

The pacing was much better this episode; kind of rushed around the end though. This episode gave me hope for the rest of the season. Im hyped

The wigs on Corlys' daughter and son look ridiculous though. you can see their actual black hair poking out around the hairline

Yeah, and because of the way they did it,it took the surprise out of who he was talking to.
yeah I felt like that was kind of a corny reveal. and not that shocking either. Still feel good about the show. not perfect, but the fact that they have Martin on board is a good sign. Also season 1 of most series tend to be a bit shaky until they find their footing
