Why would an athlete take heart medication (used to threat coronary artery disease, and helps to increase the blood flow as well as increase the flow of oxygen throughout the body) if not trying to benefit from that?

Of course you can argue, that the athelete did not know what he/she was taking like in the state doping program in East Germany. Russian program seems to be a little similar, but still athletes in many other disciplines were banned and stripped of their medals, because of Meldonium use.

Why? If someone claims to be better in the other athletes discipline, then they should meet in that discipline.
Like a triathlete claims to be the faster swimmer than the freestyle Olympic medalist, then they should swimm freestyle and not run hurdles or something.
