People forget that Silva looked amazing against guys who weren't strikers (save for Vitor Belfort who isn't great by today's standards) and who overcommitted horribly. Silva also couldn't lead, he was 100% counters and when his opponent gave him little to counter, he ended up in some very boring, uneventful fights (sound familiar?)

Look closely - Pereira was actually loading his hips up for a knee. That would have MURDERED Adesanya with how he was dipped down.

Izzy was cruising to a solid win by keeping his distance with counters, holding him against the cage and even a takedown with ground control.

It felt like he was hunting for a KO of his own to avenge his losses, and it went downhill quick.

I don't think it's his ego. I think it's his style.

He's always had that style of counterpunching, landing enough shots to win rounds, and trying to avoid damage. He runs away more than any other champion I can remember. Izzy just finally got punished for point fighting.
