Detroit police and DA's office took a good Samaritan who accidentally returned a credit card to the wrong person to trial with almost no evidence backing up that she was criminally at fault for the credit card being used by the person she gave it to.
DPD detectives continued questioning her after she clearly asked for an attorney.
The trial judge was so appalled at the lack of evidence that he didn't even let the jury deliberate and entered a summary acquittal after lecturing the DA's office for wasting everybody's take.
The Detroit DA's office defended this prosecution by demonstrating that they have no idea how the fifth amendment works or when a suspect is protected by invoking the right to an attorney.
The best part of the story is that DPD still hasn't caught the person who actually used the card to make a bunch of fraudulent purchases.
