Is this the greatest losing performance ever?

I think it's up there, Volk lost IMO, but his performance was a moral victory as he was going up in weight and the smaller guy, despite being stronger.

Pound for pound, you can argue Volk is higher than Islam, though Islam is incredible, his grappling and striking are solid. People think his takedown threat is what makes his striking look good, but the guy obviously has pretty good striking for someone who was born a wrestler. Same for Volk, Volk is a great grappler for someone who basically focused on Muay Thai as the base.

nah, probably better ones

What other fighters have lost the fight, arguably didn't live up to expectation, but abused the judging criteria to win?

Except that Volk won...

...teh judges fooked oop round 4 giving credit for Mak stalling on teh ground wit teh triangle. had that round been scored properly that round would've won teh fight.

hahahaha these idiots are coming in droves.

well you do have your status of red belt meaning you are a dedicated and consistent braindead sherdog poster

So, when Islam arguably loses the fight- i mean he lost, clear as day - but judging criteria awards the wrestling control time, when he lost, and hes the bigger guy (because p4p normalizes for size and weight - that's the idea of it), then how is Volk not still the no 1 p4p.

Apologies in advance for the multiple ideas and concepts you are going to have to learn, understand and then form an opinion on.

Volk's not even the best FW on earth or the best fighter in the UFC, let alone best "P4P". He's a jack of all trades who's about to fall off a cliff soon.

Volk don't forget had a couple of close calls in there like the first Max fight and against Brian Ortega.

Definitely belongs in the elite of the 145/155 shuffle. 145 guys shoul move up more often as the size difference isn't that great.

I get it that he didn’t end up finished like most expected, but come on now… He had good ground defense, but what exactly did he do except for the last minute of the fight?

Yeah, you probably don't even follow MMA outside of the UFC. Let's not forget Max got robbed in the 2nd fight.

Even Baldo's resume is better than Volk's.
