Do Anderson Silva Fans Really Believe That He Could Have Bested Two Striking Specialists?

what ?

read that thread title.

Prime Silva ends them both inside two rounds.

Izzy did exactly ZERO to old ass Andy.

Let's be real here.

Izzy HAD his shot at greatness, and played dance battle instead.
Barely touched old Andy, so imagine young Andy.
Prime Andy vs izzy would be a boring starring contest anyway

Izzy is well short on ko's and submission wins.

y'all getting delusional.

He landed behind Alex ear. FACT.
It was a cheap shot. FACT.
Izzy STILL hasn't beat Alex on the feet. (debatable)
He kickboxed, lost. FACT.
He fought in mma, lost. FACT.
Alex happily gave him a rematch. FACT.

He recognized the end of round 1 (side temple behind the ear) took alex out.
So... he plans the same punch location. The possum move.
Not saying it doesn't take skill, but the GOAT talk is gone now.
It's actually quite hilarious to watch people ignore this.

FACT...
He is too scared to EVEN OFFER the rematch and PROVE he is better than Alex.

It's pathetic honestly. Might as well call Leon the GOAT striker.
Maybe Leon is better than prime silva. Maybe Tank Abbott ?

Anderson did have other ways of ending fights. For example, he didn't strike much with Hendo because Hendo is a dangerous man on the feet

I doubt he could've taken Izzy down. Anderson wasn't a good offensive grappler at all. Izzy would outpoint him/possibly ko him

he 100% took it easy on Silva lol. Anyone denying that is being delusional. Just throwing that out there

For the first 2 rounds absolutely not. It was competitive because it truly was competitive.

In the 3rd round though Anderson threw a big flying knee that Izzy barely dodged, but that on the way down Silva's foot got stuck in the cage. After this is when Silva slowed down and couldn't keep up anymore except head movement wise (which is why he started showboating that as his footwork was compromised), and Izzy maybe decided to not press his advantage as he probably noticed too that something had shifted and Anderson was compromised. He was running away from the knee and probably never saw Silva's foot in the fence, just noticed afterwards that Silva couldn't move like he was before from something and if so that's why you think he "took it easy".

Far more likely though is that after Silva suddenly started doing his iconic head movement Matrix moves Izzy simply didn't want to risk getting caught like so many other people had prior and so just focused on steadily accumulating points without unnecessary risk. He was respecting Silva.

Izzy is a better striker than Anderson. Everyone who knows their shit can tell that. Not shitting on Anderson here, different times etc.
Izzy barely beat Gastelum and a very predictable 40+ year old version of Yoel (he saves his energy then lunges with knees and superman punches...Anderson would've countered him into oblivion).

Compare that to Anderson's fights against prime Belfort and Hendo.

Anderson in his prime had Matrix level reflexes, an iron chin, true 8 limb striking (meaning he could end his opponent with punches, kicks, knees, elbows). He is also a high level grappler who is leagues above Izzy or Alex on the ground. I see Andy as having a myriad of ways to end either of them. Recency bias isn’t going to change my mind on who the MW GOAT is.

I wouldn't say it's about taking it easy, it's just that if you are smart and you are cruising to a decision you are not going to take risks. Silva in the latest part of his career was the type of guy who would accept a defeat so the opponents just cruised to a decision. Cormier and Israel included.

Yes, Silva cruised to accepting a decision loss against Cormier by rocking him with a body kick in the last round.

Remember when SIlva went up and schooled dudes at 205.

Including a champ who took out Rampage, ended him.
Ended bonnar. Ended irving. Came back...

BEAT CHAEL TWICE for good measure.. (unlike izzy afraid to rematch ALEX)

Let's not forget when PRIME izzy went up
and couldn't even get off his back,
lost a decision...
to a guy who went on to be FINISHED by old man GLOVER.

<{Heymansnicker}>{<hhh]

I think Silva would clearly beat Alex. Anyone who thinks Alex would KO Silva in his prime seems very uneducated to me. I think Adesanya has the style that could always give Silva some difficulties. I don't really see prime Silva vs Adesanya going much different than when they actually fought. I think if they fought 3 times it would probably be 2-1 for either guy with noone really having a dominate win.
