He's surrounded by YES Men that don't know how to be truthful to him.

I remember before round 3 his corner said it was 1-1 and they need the next 3 rounds.
By the time it got to round 5, they told Henry it was 2-2.
These guys weren't paying attention to how many strikes were landing as opposed to how many were missing.

If Cejudo wasn't told it was 1-1 in the beginning, he probably would've stepped on the gas more betweens round 3 & 4.

Henry is a really great coach for other fighters, but he needs someone that has more octagon and MMA experience than him to coach his corner when he fights.

BJ Penn had this exact same problem in his career.

The only problem Cejudo has that is similar to BJ Penn's is that he is moving up to weight divisions where he is clearly outsized. Cejudo's accomplishments are incredible, but lets not act like he is a world beater at Bantamweight. He beat a gassed Marlon and then a semi-retired Cruz.

hasn't he had the same team for ages? it's worked out pretty great so far, right? he lost to aljo because aljo is a bad man. i felt like cejudo could have won this if he managed to press him all the time, but i'm sure he didn't get put on the back foot for no reason. maybe sterling's speed, or strength in the clinch, or power in the kicks, or all of the above had him backing up. he lost a competitive fight, it's part of the game.

and people who talk shit about penn's team also seemingly forget that the man won the LW and the WW belt with that same team of "yes men". bj stuck around for too long and became a laughing stock, but his career accomplishments are astounding.

Cejudo just needs to go on his tippy toes to complete the comparison

Moraes abandoned thst fight when his gas tank just evaporated.

Cejudo is really undersized at BW. Alijo just had him beat at every turn. When you give up that much reach, you have to get aggressive which gives your opponent an easy time to counter you.

That's why size and reach matters so much in mma now. Most competent strikers would love guys coming non stop forward and throwing so they get easy counters. The rules should reward the aggressor and score the guy initiating the exchanges because he's mostly taking the risk.

I mean, he hasn't gotten KO'd by a fat, drunk dude in the middle of a street yet, so there's that.

BJs problem is his drug use. He should have concentrated on cleaning up.

Instead of fighting machida, gsp, hughes, sherk, diego, frankie, diaz, yair, guida, gomi, fitch, pulver, ludwig, serra and renzo..

Yeah.. fuck that guy who wasn't on point..

What kind of drugs was he using?

Heard of his drug use from people in Hawaii. Then we hear it from people that have dealt with him, like Lentz and his x. This is what his x had to say about his drug use.

“Several of Uaiwa’s allegations revolve around drug use. She said Penn has been a drug addict since age 14 and “uses his training camps to try and stay sober.”

“I woke up one night to him scared because he got cocaine on my oldest daughter,” she wrote. “He was freaking out and he wanted to commit suicide.”

Uaiwa said Penn attacked her in their hotel room after he was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame, smashing her cell phone and verbally abusing her.

“Him and his friends did cocaine in the bathroom all night, while me and my children were in the room and his niece and aunty were in the living room,” she wrote.

You can take your quote and exclude those names and include his last fights where he did not look himself. Drug use got a hold of him towards the end of his career.

The amount of strikes landed don’t matter. Cejudo was landing more effective strikes all night.

I wouldn't go that far. CCC accomplished a lot. More than most fighters past or present . He is older and has a family now that takes more of his resources. He can't be selfish like when he was younger. I think everyone on here were still impressed with his performance given his circumstances.
