Multiplatform Official Mortal Kombat 1 Diskussion

Loved MKX but 11 left a bad taste in my mouth. Played it a few times and that was it, got Red Dead 2 that same Christmas so it was totally outclassed.

Always interested on the new Fatalities though.
 
Rumored that Homelander and Peacemaker could wind up as guest characters.
 
Still hoping we eventually get a horror game at some point. I know getting the rights to all those is a massive hurdle though.

This new MK game looks interesting but MK11 was a bit underwhelming for me, I liked the gear system but the story fell flat. Hopefully they got the time travel out of their system.
 
After the teaser a week ago I was expecting it to be a complete reboot/remake of the series from the original tournament.

Instead, with Liu Kang being a god, it seems like... Mortal Kombat 12.


I played MKX and enjoyed it, and skipped MK11.
I may check this one out.
Lately, the MK formula has bored me.

And my favorite character is Kitana, and she was awesome in MK9, back to her alpha MK2 roots. In MKX she was... nerfed a bit. In MK11, from what I saw, she was almost a bottom-tier choice.

And changing her into a 'meh'-looking asian chick was weak AF.

Yeah, I said it.

In the game lore she is Edenian but in real life it was obvious that the character was inspired by Asian culture as a lot of the cast have are. Not really surprising that they decided to keep the Asian look, I think it actually works better for her personally.

To be more clear, her European-Bodybuilder look in MK9 was kinda weird, but going from that to such a plain-looking asian girl...

I mean, at least give her some muscle, instead of her looking like a she's never consumed any protein.

And the MK11 story arc with her killing Kahn? And becoming queen of Edenia? It reeked of the 'girl-boss' agenda that every Disney movie seemingly has. But at least she was in the narrative of the story, unlike in MKX.
 
Am I the only one that hates video game naming conventions? Mortal Kombat 1? Just like Battlefield 1? It’s bad enough already having two games in the series just called “Mortal Kombat”. You say “Mortal Kombat” and a person might not know if you’re talking OG or 2011. Now you can say Mortal Kombat 1 and a person won’t know if you mean OG or this game.

Fuck’s sake video game industry.

Bf1 was bf1 because it was wwi. And it was the best bf game of all time.

I think 2 is still my favorite BF (the realistic PC version, not the stupid console versions). So many fun memories.
 
ok, i'm officially over mk.

i don't know why they keep rebooting it and also constantly adding garbage to it. all the dlc characters, the stupid x-ray crap, now capcom-esque assists.

fwiw... i liked 9, got 10 and barely remember it, stayed far away from 11. imo, this peaked with mk3 and throwing disabled. i kind of wish they'd decide if they're a competitive fighting game or a zany one.

in before megatron and godzilla dlc.

That's pretty much always been my issue with the series. I'll play it for fun but I could never really take it seriously.
 
Looks like part of the main roster dlc leaked, Quan Chi, Omni Man, Ermac, Peacemaker, Takeda and Homelander.

Kameo dlc fighters apparently are Tremor, Johnny Cage, Khameleon, Mavado and Ferra.

A Johnny Cage skin for Jean Claude Van Damme is also mentioned, but this last bit was confirmed yesterday.

To be clear, Johnny Cage has been confirmed to be in the base game. The inclusion of him in the list of Kameo characters is likely referencing the Jean Cluade Van Damme skin. Amazon Italy doesn't make this part clear, but this could be down to a translation issue."

*And Peacemaker? So we're actually going to see John Cena in a Mortal Kombat game?

That's a cross-over no one could have ever predicted.
 
I’m not sure how much time I will spend in this one just because of life stuff it makes it difficult to keep grinding fighting games. Will definitely be getting this and interested to see the gameplay and roster and of course really hoping Reptile makes it this time.

Not a fan of them rebooting again it’s kind of crazy to me how they felt like they needed to do another one but they’ve always loved to do whacky things so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. Just hoping nothing is reaaaalt dumb like Liu Kang turning evil or something cringe like that lol
