Really don't know how people can give a crap about Sean Omalley when Yair Rodriguez exists

In terms of highlights he is pretty much unmatched. He's been fed to sharks his entire UFC career and fights them like a Tekken character, while all O'Malley has done until recently is beat up on training dummies. IMO Yair's fight with Holloway was fight of the year.

Why does O'Malley have hype when Yair exists, doing way more interesting shit in a tougher division?

He's grown on me recently but I see why his hype wasn't there. He hasn't been that active these past few years. He pulled out versus Zabit twice which sucks. The whole USADA thing where he kept missing tests and then got suspended. The whole debacle with the jeremy stephens NC where he had a bad attitude + his hometown fans were being trash and throwing trash. Since the Ortega and Emmett fights though he seems more likeable on the mic and in general. It's almost too late for the UFC "machine" to start building him up since it's make it or break it with this championship fight.

Compared to O'malley though, yea, way more hype. He gets finishes and his fights are exciting. But part of the hype machine is what you do outside of the cage and how you are perceived on media day and after fights/

Low-Limit-Craps.jpg I don't know how people can give a crap about what other people give a crap about.

I don't give a crap about what you give a crap about.

I like em both but I can see why O’Malley, with the more polarizing persona, easily gets more attention here. He colours his hair and people lose their minds.

O'Malley was busted for steroids and has found all kinds of ways to make himself unlikable, like whining about how Vera kicked his ass. It seems like when O'Malley is being unlikable it gets spun as a meme and becomes part of his image, but Yair got zero slack for any of the stuff you mentioned. He went from being one of the most exciting fighters in years to getting shit on by Dana White and most of the fanbase turning against him for years.

Lol, seriously weird thread.
They're both flashy range-y strikers, but people blow their load over one (who is decidedly mediocre) and almost completely ignore the other (who is totally phenomenal.) Just saying...

Neither fighter competes often enough for me to become emotionally invested. Both are very entertaining; however, I'd like to see consistency in their scheduling.

P.S. Yair is the more talented / well rounded and it would be interesting to see them matched up together, should he move up in the future.

I don't like that high five shit that went down with Yair and Zombie.

Yair was so damn inactive, he only has himself to blame. People usually like tuning in when he fights, they just forget about him during the long waits in between.
