Based on Gaethje's last 2 fights, I'd pick him against any LW who's willing to stand with him the entire fight (or unable to take him down). That doesn't mean he'd beat everyone else 10 out of 10 times--he's a bit chinny and his aggressive style can work against him--but I'd give him over a 50% shot of outstriking any 155 pounder or below. I also think Max is too small and this was pretty clear in the Poirier fight.

Come on guys Max won his last fight after Justin won his last fight. And he looked just decent against zombie who pretty much had one hand in ufc gloves and the other hand in a bag of fritolays getting ready to enjoy his retirement before the fight. So yeah Max would absolutely trash Justin. Just like Mr. "He's still my boy" was going to reclaim his title and show us his best version yet. And old lion heart should be next for the title. I'm exhausted so this rant might not make sense but Max is an overrated fighter that plateau a long time ago.

Max is the biggest weight-cutter at FW and Justin is not a big LW. The weight difference in fight night between Max and Gaethje would be anecdotic. Nothing we don't see regularly in this and other divisions.
Just to let that fact clear.

We see fighters moving up a division and having succes very often. It's pretty easy to debunk you alleged 9/10 probability with stats.

Even in Gaethje's case, FWs as Johnson and Palomino have given Justin all kind of trouble, and they arent even elite FWs the caliber Max is, not even close.

I'd favour Gaethje in this match up, but some of you are way out of touch with some prejudices
