What side? The confederacy doesn't exist anymore it's non-entity. Anyone who is flying the flag today has nothing to do with the confederacy.

Symbols mean different things to different people. A swastika could be a sign for someone who hates Jews, or it could be a Native American symbol of the four winds. The real question is what is the intent of the people using the symbol.
 
The intent of the people using the Confederate Flag was to secede from the Union because they wanted to keep black people as property.
 
Always saw that flag in terms of southern pride not racism.
