How does the fight go?

Oh is that the only one that Boxing has? Well you might be disappointed when you hear that Anderson Silva pieced up JCC. Vitor Belfort brutally murdered Evander Holyfield.

I would say that Vitor murdering Evander was the closest thing to former undisputed champions of MMA or boxing crossing over to the other sport and murdering the former undisputed champion of that sport...
Tim was never close to undisputed lol.

Belfort vs Holyfield was an exhibition fight. Not a professional match.

Silva had a boxing career that he started at roughly the same time he started his MMA career.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that. That was a brutal KO! It's another matter that Tyson is still in his prime arguably and Evander was, well, frankly shouldn't have been fighting anyone at that point in his life -- but I did completely forget about that fight.

Sometimes I feel like UFC fans and sherdog thread producers are the dumbest humans on the planet.

Now that Francis has emerged as potential 'next big thing' in Boxing; and if we take everything that happened tonight at face value, it's reasonable that Francis may want his next fight in the ring. I doubt Francis will be able to get one of the remaining big 3 to take a fight, but there's a bunch of top 10 guys in various top boxing organizations that he could make some serious money with. Ortiz, Zhang, Whyte etc.

Now, kudos to Francis for signing with an organization willing to back his interests, but how long would they reasonably "allow" Francis to pursue boxing in the immediate future before wanting him to deliver a ROI on a PFL event? They are already promoting his debut with a contest for fans, but no date set yet, aside from sometime in 2024.

Do they cross promote? Do they give him a guaranteed win over a scrub to tied them over and then let him pursue boxing? Do they just sit back and let him gain more notoriety in boxing and hope he comes back to mma in a few years?

I say let him ride this wave, bring his name further up and hope he doesn't retire from competition before he gives them a fight they can cash in on.

Having a 40+ lbs advantage and taking Wilder more srs does Wonder. Put some respect on Wilders Name.

Yeah I think if Fury trained his ass off, he can win more decisively but even THAT is a shocker given the expectations.

Is fury ever in good shape? I mean he's just a big bulky guy. Not like he shows up with Lewis Abs for previous fights, right?
He looked more in shape than he has recently lol. Too many excuses.... Tyson just ain't that good, ducked AJ and Usyk. Got beat up by an MMA fighter. Next.

???? Why would PPV be unislamic lol. Also they have Becky G dancing around the stage and a rapper signing about fucking and pussy, doubt islamic values matter there nowadays
Sorry my mistake, not PPV but betting aka gambling.

No. No way. What world beaters has Deontay beaten? He came up short against the only HW worth a shit on 3 occassions.

I said it once and Ill say it again, this era of HWs sucks. These guys would have gotten murdered in the 70s, 80s or 90s.

It's true, he is exciting to watch but aging Ortiz is his only real significant win.

He has some great fights now potentially but I don't think he's the same after the Fury fights.

These are the people who watch Francis lose, claimed he won and then watch Mercer KO Sylvia in 9 secs and make excuses for Sylvia.
Some guy already laid out a multiple post defense on why that shouldn't count because Sylvia was washed up, not knowing that Mercer was retired and 48 years old with a 2 day training camp walking into MMA and KOing a former 2x UFC Hw Champ with one punch

Now do James Toney and Ricardo Mayorga’s ventures into MMA.

Tournament bests point system.
That's where the Bellator Grand Prix work. The problem is injuries and they can hold up the system. But I loved seeing the brackets. Kinda like NFL playoffs.
But that point playoff crap is unwatchable. Also, PFL has literally the most boring fighters. I think every Bellator champ would trounce PFL champs.
The playoffs pretty much are a regular tournament. They just need the point system to know who is next in line when injuries inevitably strike so it's not just someone out of the blue. That's how they can crown champions every year.

That's what being a league is, which is their tagline. The World Series doesn't get postponed 6 months because someone gets injured. It's show up or someone else gets your spot.

And yes their current fighters are incredibly boring. I've never understood why Ray Sefo of all people would bring in mostly boring wrestlers.

Holy shit. Woke up expecting a brutal loss for Francis but this dude, who has not fought since early 2022, and trained for a couple of months, went punch for punch with Fury and scored the only knockdown in the match.
I seriously don't get the guy. EX-Level athlete or some shit. What makes this is even crazier is that if this was an MMA fight, Francis would have murdered him in the first round but he went over to the other sport and clowned the entire sport of boxing.
He's also basically immortal idk. Ate an elbow (if he had made a fuss about it, could have been a point deduction) but didn't even flinch.

Frankly not even the biggest MMA>Boxing cheerleaders thought Francis had a snowballs chance in hell of winning this fight.

But this is embarassing af for boxing. No 2 ways about it. It's like Sylvia getting dropped in a MMA match but worse. Sylvia while just a few months removed from being champ was perhaps the most poorly regarded one in the sports history. Fury was undefeated HW champ of the world.
Fury came in Pear shape, and looked like Dogshit, and Francis looked decent, much better than most thought he would.

I would think that a great many boxing fans really wanted to see Fury get KTFO... I know I did. Fury is an embarrassment to boxing, but he has ALWAYS been so, this fight might add to that legacy, I suppose, but neither denigrates the sport IMO.

And Fury IS STILL an undefeated HW champion, but he ducked Joshua, ducked Usyk (and I'm not sure that fight will actually happen until the bell rings and they are both inside the ropes) and he ducked the rematch with Wlad. He also dodged the UKAD and sanction after pissing hot for the 1st Wlad fight.

Anyway.... better than expected fight.
