Should we ban hugging in the Octagon?

As we just saw with Caio vs Abus, this type of friendly behavior just leads to glorified sparring matches. Besides, it's an act of peace, even healing. Right in the middle of what should be 5 minutes dedicated to pure combat. It would be if like both participants decided to just stop mid round to do 30 seconds of prayer or yoga. What can we do to end this menace?

Yellow cards should be implemented in fights. Cro Cop & Pat Barry felt uncomfortable watching. Caio and Abus wasn’t as bad.

I don't mind glove-touching between rounds ... or a hug before the last round (if it was a fogging war) ... but all of this smiling / hugging shit at the beginning of the round ... in the middle of the round ... at the end of the round, fuck that shit.

You're trying to beat the absolute dog shit out of somebody, and "being friendly" in the middle of the round ruins killer momentum. You don't do that shit in the middle of a fight.

No one ever saw Marvin Hagler do that shit, ever.

"There are no 'friends' in that squared circle ..."

It can definitely be annoying and spoils the momentum. Also it can lead to situations where one guy thinks they are still hugging but the other is ready to go. Just unnecessary risk and potential for fuckery- leave that shit for the end of the fight.

When a fighter wants to touch gloves at face off, then touch gloves and hug when the round starts, then smile and touch gloves during the bout when you get a good shot in, then hug and smile after the round before going to the stool

Certainly, in that particular fight, Victor Ortiz had just fouled Floyd tho, he takes 1 punch like waiting for the ref to say something, leave the hugging for the end of the fight or at least dont foul the guy and then ask for hugs like nothing.

Let's Pretend Hug doesn't exist in Boxing, Muay Thai or Kickboxing ?
