International E Jean Carroll Bests Donald J Trump to the Tune of $83 million

now thats a name

I hope Trump does realize in order to appeal this particular verdict he needs to put up the 83+ million dollar verdict awarded to the victim, it's like a surety payment to the true victim of Donald's stormy horny ways...

83 million is such a ridiculous and arbitrary number.

Not for someone who claims to be a billionaire or drop-in-the-bucket or just grift his cult followers to pay his bills again.

That's more money than some of the black victims' families got when white police officers murdered them in cold blood. I guess white privilege strikes again, good for her.
Well, if the cops murdered the same victim mulitple times, the 2nd time would yield a larger judgment as well.

Do people forget that he literally lost this same case like 2+ years ago. And rather than learning from it, he decided to just keep doing the same shit?

Honestly, why try to racialize this? No one is going to be outraged over that element because most intelligent people understand that, even in wrongful death cases, cops are very rarely intentionally murdering people after being told to specifically not murder the same person.

gonna be a fair bit more than 83M actually. when they have to put up those bonds, they put up enough money in surety to cover the damages awarded to the victim or the receiver in case the appeal is rejected or ruled against them, and then they tack on another percent to that to cover for inflation and legal costs and shit.

not only that but it's not like a bail bond where he only has to put down about 10% upfront. for supersedeas bonds he would have to put up ALL of the money upfront.

he put down 5.5 million on his supersedeas bond to cover the 5.0 million verdict in the first rape/defamation trial just so that he can appeal the ruling. i'm not sure how exactly they calculate the numbers for the surety, but just using that as a baseline, i would assume he'd have to pay in somewhere in the ballpark of 91-92 million dollars in order to appeal this 83.3m ruling.

i really don't think he's going to appeal this. first of all they don't really have much to appeal on. his "lawyer" didn't even object to any of the evidence as it got introduced to trial. and even though his attorneys done him no favors and basically hung him out to dry, he can't even appeal on the grounds of incompetent representation because you can only do that in criminal trials.

they can't even try to accuse a judge of being unruly, as trump acted out so many times in front of the jury trying to sabotage this shit, even after being warned over and over again, and the judge still kept his composure and gave him a long leash, even though any other defendants would have been removed from the courtroom if they tried that shit. they wouldn't get 10+ warnings to stop doing the same malicious activity.

i don't know what grounds they have to appeal on. you won't be hearing alina habba ever telling you this, but they do not get to retry their case. they do not get to enter any new evidence. they do not get to bring in any new witnesses. being unhappy with the amount of damages issued is not grounds for an appeal. in order to win an appeal, they have to find legal holes in their trial and demonstrate to the appeals court that they were wronged, or prove that some kind of statute of the law was wrong or misrepresented. they can't speculate that they might have been wronged in trial. in order to appeal, the onus is now on them to actually have to find evidence of such malpractice, and then prove to the appeals court that they were wronged, and whatever way they were wronged had directly impacted the juries decision against them. only then will the appelate courts decide to take action to try to rectify the lower courts decision.

and even if they did manage to have a solid argument for appeal, most of the time it's not going to result in the case getting thrown out unless some real fucking shady and highly illegal shit went down during the trial. in all likelihood the amount of the damages assessed would just get reduced.

appeals are much much harder to win on than civil trials in district courts. if you didnt have much of a case to make in the first place, youre fair dinkum fucked on appeals unless something happened during your trial that went completely off the rails.

will it be worth putting down 90+ million just to roll the dice on an appeal? they better damn well hire some real attorneys and have something concrete and convincing, otherwise e jean carroll is going to get a quick and easy payday.

honestly, i don't think they will actually try to appeal this. the 5.5 million to trump is nothing, he can afford to lose that, and he pretty much has to fight it if he doesnt want to keep getting sued for defamation due to e jean carroll's new infinite money glitch she discovered because he can't keep his mouth shut. he has to fight this just to save himself from bigger lawsuits.

but the 83.3 million? thats going to sting his pocketbooks alot. i don't think he's willing to put that on the line, when he could just try to tie the courts up and hide his money and assets just to try to avoid paying her. but the other thing is, while stupidly trying to gloat and impress, he literally just said while under oath that he has more than $400 million of cash on hand, so if he tries to declare bankruptcy and squirrel his money away, they can hit him up for perjury. he just can't keep his mouth shut.

So white cops aren't intentionally murdering black males at an alarming rate like we been hearing through the media? Good to know.

What you hate depends exclusively on political party.

You stand for nothing real.
It could be said about many Democrats in this thread. Carroll is a lunatic, her story was full of holes, she has accused many men of rape and sexual abuse before, and they don't care one bit because they hate Trump.

I hate rapists. But to the delusional TDS-infected brains like you automatically conclude Trump raped her with absolutely no evidence presented, but a clip of mid-70s Trump being confused at a photo.

Do you really hate rapists..?
Because it seems you going really strong & hard to defend one. The grab'em by the pussy president seems to have done just that we know because he told the world on a hot mic celebrities can do just that. Back in the day, he was more a celebrity businessman than a presidential professional candidate so free to fulfill his carnal nature of digital rape.

Trump wasn't confused about the photo, the photo only became blurry when pointed out he said E J Carrol was his former wife who mothered a child for him, so E J Carrol is most definitely not his type.

Shame Trump's PR people can't parade out Melania Trump to defend her committed loyal husband, I wonder why?

Why did she wait 30 years?
Why were her attorneys funded by Reid Hoffman (who is funding Nikki Haley)?
Why is there no evidence?
Why does she not know the date?
How come the outfit she said she wore during assault didn't even exist when she said it happened.
How do you think the jury could prove sexual assault but not rape?
Why does she think rape is sexy?

“Carroll has accused multiple men of sexually assaulting or raping her throughout her life, including a babysitter’s boyfriend, a dentist, a camp counselor, an unnamed college date, an unnamed boss, and CBS chief executive Les Moonves.”

Layered between Carroll’s road trip, childhood and career stories (she wrote for Esquire, Outside, Rolling Stone, New York, Playboy and Saturday Night Live) are bone-chilling descriptions of monsters like No 6, Old Cam the camp counselor who repeatedly molests her “even in the dining room during dinner, under the table, squeezing my thighs, shoving his fingers – saying, ‘You’re my girl. You’re my girl’ and making me promise ‘not to tell anyone’”. She was 12.

There’s No 7, the babysitter’s boyfriend who makes her pull down her pants and fondles her “guinea” while the babysitter watches.

No 1 is an Indiana University student who drives her into the woods and tries to rape her at knifepoint. She barely escapes.

“The jolly octopus”, No 15, is disgraced former CBS chief executive Less Moonves, who mashes her in a hotel elevator after she interviews him for Esquire.

If Carroll had a tattoo for every time she was insulted, fondled or attacked by a “chap”, she would look like a Maori warrior.

More than 15 rapes, she hit the lottery for someone that thinks rape is sexy

the left on sherdog can't defend the obvious corruption so they ignore it. they have no answers to what's being posted.

I know almost nothing about the case, I don't put much effort into discussing rape cases on Sherdog. They're difficult to litigate and nobody agrees on the verdicts.

A jury found him guilty and that's enough for me. If they had found him innocent, that also would have been fine. When Al Franken resigned I was pretty gutted because he never got the chance to defend himself, but his party felt he was guilty and there were too many allegations to ignore. His principle accuser was a Republican figure but I let it go. These things are complicated and messy.

I don't ~need~ Trump to be a rapist, he's already guilty of so many things. It's just nice to have in my pocket when conservatives pretend to give a flying fuck about women.

The rapist ex president somehow isn't in prison yet, strange!
